Default 2012 (and 11) SC Flashpaq flash....

Since there is a high probablity of me driving a 2012 in the next 6-8 weeks I contacted Superchips to find out what is going on with the 11/12 tuners. We know the tuner companies are having an issue breaking the encryption on these trucks, or at least that is how it is described to me.

They said to expect it by the end of 2012. I know, it sucks to wait that long, but at least they did not say it is not happening. They also said it is highly likely to just be an update to the 3865. Guess I will be hanging onto my tuner.

Good to know. I have been waiting almost a month now for my tuning. I originally had the tuning but I had to take my truck into the dealer for service. They reflashed my truck with the new PCM which there was no tuning for on the 3865. They let me know that they are "waiting for a release and the files are in composite." Whatever that means...I am really missing the extra oomph. I'm wondering if I should just sell it and get a bully dog???

No luck there. There are NO tuners that will tune a 2011 or 2012 PCM. I too have been in contact with superchips, and bullydog (whom I am signed up as a beta tester under) last I was told was superchips were very close to a release, but they never gave me date...Bullydog said in the summer. So who knows...All I know is there are no tunes for these trucks, the question that I begin to ask is why is ram making it so difficult to tune? I realize it could be a warranty related issue, but IF your truck does have problems and they track it back to your tuner it now becomes your problem not the dealers. And the money comes out of your pocket! IMO this should be a better thing for RAM...

I am a little worred about a 2012 tranny schedule option. Why?

We know the 12 has the six speed vs the five speed with OD in previous years, so I would guess that programming would be slightly different. I think it is highly likely that the 13 will have the 8 speed with the Hemi. So here sits 12 owners with a one off, one year tranny. Will SC even bother if that is the case? As SC says.... Stay Tuned!

Does anyone think that since I have an 09 that the dealer could put an older flash on there such as the 09 or 10 PCM? I know superchips has cracked those years so I am wondering if it would be a big deal to request that from the dealer?

Someone with an 11 put in a pcm in a 10. But it seems they are close, that does not make much sense.

Are you saying you have a 2009 or 2010 and originally used SuperChips for tuning, but then you brought the truck to the dealer, they flashed it, and now you cannot tune it with the SuperChips tuner??

The 8 speed for 2013 is great news ! A lower ratio 1st and 2nd gear will maybe put a hemi ram with 3.92 gears the top contender in the 1/2 ton world.

For me, I am so used to the SC 93 tune with trans schedule that it just plain old sucks going back to stock for a dealer visit. CarGuyOhio, been running your trans schedule since it was posted back in 2010, perfect for daily driving and not too obnoxious like some of the other ones, thanks again for posting it..

After reading up on the trans change for 2012 my understanding is it really only gives you an overdrive in ERM or tow haul mode and uses the same shift schedule in drive, for what I use my truck for, there is no point in trading. I was close to getting an ecoboost, actually 2x, my brother did though, and now I see SC has a tune for it so SCT Flash would follow, I would be back down in Covington VA on Mike Troyer's dyno ( Troyer Performance ) for a custom tune/intake combo... I want to wait a bit longer for more 2013 news since the Ram's been a great truck so far, best looking truck IMO, but a bit disappointed in lack of tuning options for any of the 2011 and up models.

I will miss my tuner as well once I get my 12, and of course be searching for my perfect 12 shift schedule. I actually kept my shift shedule in on my 09 this winter, first time I did that. But lets face it, this is not a normal winter. It can get a little loose on the cold dirty roads, just have to be careful.

Rob,
That is correct. They put the 2011 PCM on it and there is no tuning from superchips yet.
