Man I'd be pissed if they didn't replace the engine too. But you know Chrysler is not likely in any way different in the way they handle warranty than any other brand. All vehicle manufacturers try to weasel out of warranty. I've had problems with VW, Land Rover, GMC and Audi trying to deny claims. The only reason I haven't had a problem with others is that I haven't had a warranty claim with them, or I've never owned them.

Having said that I love my new Ram 1500 Sport and hope I never have a problem with it.

It's sad, but I agree with you 100%. When I first got started on forums I was driving an '02 Chevy Z71, my "in between" truck I bought after my 2nd Gen Ram and current 3rd Gen. Was a moderator on a Chevy truck site for a time (hence the name "HammerZ71") and I heard the same stories of **** poor service there too.

They ALL have common issues they know about and let it drag out for years. Ford with their top ends on the PowerJoke 6.0 and the spark plug issue stripping and flying out of their Triton engines. Dodge with the 2nd Gen into early 3rd Gen cracked dashes and the 15+ years of exploding LSDs. You have a known, common problem with a product - just fix the damn thng!!!!

They ALL suck at warranty issues and repairs and they`ll ALL try to skworm their way out of paying. If they can discourage one customer and not pay for something, thats money in their pockets and not yours. (i would keep bitchin, squeaky wheel always gets the grease) I just wish i could buy one dam truck today that wont have to go to the shop every friggin month for issues that should have never happened. (poor engineering..! they want quantity, not quality) I understand that **** sometimes happens, but trying to get these idiots to make good on their warranties, and then find a dealership that KNOWS WTF they`re doing, its like trying to win the fricken lottery. You end up paying and paying and paying, and you never win. THEN, when you`re sick of fighting with them, we trade them in, and most of us end up upside down in the loan, making the new one way more expensive just to satisfy ourselves. Where does it end...!

Well I've been pretty lucky with both of my current vehicles, the Ram is going to be 8 years old next month and the only thing I can say that has had to be a "repair" (meaning not a modification or something caused by me doing a modification or what I'd consider to be normal maintenance) has been a blown stock shock absorber.

The '02 Grand Cherokee (bought used in '06 with 61k on it) is now at 105k miles. The only issues I had from '06 until this past fall (5 years) was a broken blend door (heater) and a burnt out driver's window regulator. This past winter a rear caliper seized up on me and the radiator decided to split at the seam. The radiators are KNOWN issues and to be honest I've done better than most in getting 100k miles out of it. To date I've put about $1500 in this vehicle for what I consider "repairs" rather than normal maintenance. I can live with $1500 in repair costs over six years...

I have had my 09 ram for a little over 3 years. I did have a couple of rattles in the dash when I first got the Ram. at 24K had a pinon seal start to leak. All were taken care of with no hassle.

It is interesting the bashing of dealership service depts that goes on with no talk regarding private garages. I know a few stories regarding auto repair service from private garages that is just as bad. With that said, I do wish vehicles were better built than they are. Yet, I am so far happy with my 09. All brands have their plus and minus to what they sell.
