I agree with you. I have two dealers (two different towns) I use. Didn't buy the truck from either one. They both have been great. I have my service (oil change / tire rotation) done by them. Pay $75 up front get 3 oil changes / tire rotations done over 18 months. I won't mess doing it for $25. They don't even charge extra for the hemi.

I had a pinion seal starting to weep. they replaced it under warrenty. Had thems service the front and read diff. Yes, they are a bit higher than a local mechanic, but its worth it. They worked on a few squeeks / rattles when I first got the truck. No hassles and no charge.

So I agree, it helps to build a relationship with a good service department. It pays off in the end.

My personal opinion is the ram is as good as any other light duty pick up. They all can and do have issues.

Cant wait to read/hear all the complaints to start coming in on those in here. Hopefully i`ll have got rid of my trucks by then.
When both trucks are gone, i wont be coming into the forums here much longer. I`ve enjoyed talkin to some of you.
Some of you guys are really good dudes... i wish you all the best in the future.

Just a recap on my own trucks with diff issues:
Both trucks i own... Neither has EVER hauled or towed anything...!
1st 2010 hemi truck: pinion seal leaked @ 17,000 miles (lost most the lube)
2nd 2010 hemi truck: horrible diff howel @ 14,000 mles (dealer says let it blow = WTF, REALLY...????)

The dealer(s) have YET to fix EITHER truck to this day...!
I`ve had many other issues, none were ever resolved either. (far to many to list in here)
Call chrysler, and what, get more runaround...? Nope, i`m done with chrysler.
I`ve also realized, that some others in here have had the same problems i`ve had, i wish you all well.

Where are you getting your information from?
As far as I'm aware, the newer Ram 1500's utilize the same 9.25" differential and LSD as the prior years do. The LD(Light Duty) rear diff is because the 1500 is considered a light duty truck. 2500/3500 are HD trucks. My tag says LD 3:92

I have a good friend that works for a dodge dealership, he had a earlier built 2010 and a late built 2011 on 2 seperate hoists, (both 1500 4x4 QC hemi trucks) rear covers off from BOTH trucks at the same time, (because the pinion bearings failed in both trucks and were there for repair) and he showed me the difference`s between the 2010 & the 2011 rear housings. The 2011 on up, internally are weaker than the 2010 is, structural wise. I didnt believe it until we measured everywhere inside the housings. Yes, thats correct, they both have the 9.5 ring gear, but the rear diff case`s have changed again. He seemed to also think that the axle tubes are even thinner now as well, to save weight. I dont know about that, i didnt measure the axle tubes as i already saw enough just checkin out the cases. It wouldnt surprise me at all if they really were thinner though.

I've had nothing but good experiences with the 4 dealers I deal with. Bought the truck from one that was 80 miles away because they had the truck I wanted, never been back there for service because of the distance. The other 3 do my service - it just depends where I happen to be working in the city when I need something done. While it did take one dealer a few tries to figure out a flakey wheel sensor issue, they gave me a loaner car while they were working on it. Had no issues with any of them fixing the minor issues, RRTs and recalls that have come up. I've always had them taken care of at the same time I planned for an oil change.
