my wife has been driving my truck for the past year due to her much shorter commute and high gas prices. she ran the truck to where the oil was off the dipstick. she was waiting for the change oil light to come on like in her car before she said anything, but the stupid change oil light never came on! dam truck went over 9,000 miles on same oil and filter. after i changed the oil the light came on 5 miles down the road. So be warned. Don't rely on that dumb sensor. i think the engine is damaged as well. i have lost 3 to 4 mpg's on it.

As to oil changes you can go 15,000+ on synthetic. Just change the filter out every 5,000 and add oil. the whole 3,000 thing is a gimmick. I ran syntheic in my tacoma starting at 100,000 miles. It still runs like brand new and has over 210,000miles on it. My boss has been doing the same with his titan because his mechanic told him the same. that is what all the guys at that shop do. Now that my ram has 70,000miles on it i will be doing the same with it.
