Default 09 2500 gas cap light

So a few days ago my gas cap light popped on. I tightened the cap and it remained on. A few more days went bye and i purchased a new gas cap and light and warning sound still pops on. What next?

May be a stupid question, but did you ever clear the code? Autozone, O'Reilys have readers that you can use for free to check the code and clear.
Get the code number and look it up. This will help on other possible problems.

My wifes jeep kept throwning an error. first we though gas cap. Ended up being a throttle position sensor.

Matt,

I agree with Mike. Find the code and clear. If it comes back on post the code so we can look for other possible causes.

The gas cap light should clear on it's own. I can't believe that the Chrysler engineers were dumb enough to make it so that every-time you leave the gas cap loose that it requires a trip to the dealer. It would be like the TPMS requiring the same thing. Go to the dealer if under warranty or go to any shop with the right equipment to check for leaks in the hose that recirculates the gas fumes.
