Question Dodge hitch receiver "back ordered"??

I've noticed that for the last few months, the Dodge hitch receiver is "back ordered) nationwide. Is there some kind of problem with it?

I'm talking about the one that hooks under the bumper http://www.mopardodge.com/accessorie...m/receiver.htm

I got one on my newly ordered truck that I took delivery of this week, but it is different from the Mopar one you are ordering. The factory installed hitch, from what I understand, hooks to the frame differently.

I was told the same thing from two of the Dealerships here in Dallas, TX. One said that there was a recall on them because the holes weren't matching up. I'm pretty upset about it because I need it to tow and I don't want to use the ball on the bumper route. Does anyone know of any aftermarket version that will work?

Pardon me for sounding ignorant, but why can't you just go to walmart and buy a Reese branded one?

What is the advantage of the Mopar reciever?

Mopar Reciever is basically like a hidden hitch. You can't see hardly any part of it. Reese is big and bulky and easily seen.
Mopar one's are also Class VI as compared to Reese which are Class III.

Stop at a local hitch/exhaust shop, they may have other brands that look fine.

From what I understand, most of the receiver is already installed. The part you buy bolts onto the receiver bar that is connected to the frame rails. So to put in another receiver, I would think you have to uninstall the part that is already there. I've attached a picture of the piece you have to buy.

There is an install pdf located here:

MOPAR must be changing suppliers as the hitches have been on back order for a while. There is not a recall on them that I know of. There are several dealers with them in stock. I may be able to locate you at a dealer near you. From what I can tell there are 50 dealers that have them in stock.
