This goes for all conversion kits...AND True HID kits.

35w vs 55w.... Only difference is in the ballasts. The bulbs are the same, so when you get a cheap conversion kit for $60 where the bulb life is limited to begin with, running them at a higher wattage(overdriving them) reduces their life significantly more.
Average cheap HID bulb lasts 400-1200hrs as compared to OEM Philips that last 2000-3000hrs.

No such thing as a 55w bulb so expect the bulb life to be reduced in lifespan is all I'm trying to say. You'll certainly get more light output and when installed in a halogen housing, the 35w is kinda blinding to oncoming traffic, so 55w will be obsurd. Sure You will be able to see, but they wont.
Using 35w in Headlights and 55w in Fogs would suffice because fogs are pointed to ground anyways. I personally have 35w in fogs and they are plenty bright! using HIDExtra kit.

On my 2008, my foglights are hella housings with Glass fronts. No melting of mine. The inner black housing is a very high tem grade plastic, so it would take alot to melt that. Only reason guys melt plastic housings is because the bulbs are long as are closer to lens than a halogen bulb. HID bulbs don't put off more heat per say than a halogen...They are just in the wrong housing.

I don't buy this. It is a generalization that doesn't always apply. I ran HIDs in my RAM for almost a year and a half and barely ever had anyone flash their brights at me (maybe twice in that whole time and at least once was when I was pulling a heavy trailer). If the HIDs in the stock housings were so awful more people would be flashing. Also, I've followed and driven past friends on the road and all they've ever commented on was the color of the headlights, not the brightness.

I'm sure in some stock housings HIDs may be a problem but I think it isn't a problem with 4th gen RAMs.

But you've still had people flash you and you've maybe owned your truck for 2yrs and how much was driving at night? I've never been flashed in the 14yrs I have been driving for having standard Halogen bulbs. Never!
I passed a Dodge Caravan on the highway yesterday at nighttime. They clearly had 55w HID conversion kit at 8000K temp. I slowed down and got behind him and ran my High beams. He was blinding the SH*T outta me and clearly several others as people on the opposite side of the highway were flashing him. (standard median divided highway)
I can't wait till my state starts cracking down on people like that. I'm not saying you are near as bad as him, but Ford trucks are extremely bright with HID Conversion kits and so are Dodge Rams with a Level kit because it points them up higher.

That's why I did a projector retrofit.

FX-R Bixenon ballasts w/clear lens
Philips D2S 4300K
Mastush*tu Gen VI Ballasts

(the name gets blocked because it has the word >s h i t< in it..how dumb)

Made them 4-way adjustable and can aim them anywhere I want. Makes a perfect cutoff.

I've got links to pics in my sig.

I've had people flash me in every vehicle I've ever owned in my 26 years of driving - much more frequently in cars with factory HIDs. Twice in 1.5 years in a RAM, one time legitimately because the *** end was weighed down with a heavy trailer and nose pointed up, tells me it is not a problem. Believe what you want. I disagree. I think you're just sensitive because you perceive a problem and therefore it is one for you. My personal stats tell me otherwise.

If HIDs in a RAM bug you I can't imagine how you must hate Ford trucks' stock low beams. Those are the brightest (or most misaligned?) low beams ever.

I'm on mobile theme so I can't see sigs.

I'm running exact same setup. TRS FX-R 1.1

It's not the low beams on the fords. It's the damn glaring fog lights. Same as on 4th gen rams. They ain't bad head on its across the median they suck. 4th gen fogs project light to the sides and up. It's the "up" that blinds.

And as far as HID's go: the new escalades I hate. Every one has the lights aimed way up.
