This thread was an old one but I would suggest letting the dealership perform the repairs if it is an exhaust leak related to the studs as it should be covered under the warranty.

I just had my truck in for the cold start ticking. It was super embarrassing parked next to my buddies non Rams. It had 2 busted bolts and a warped exhaust manifold. So much better now and all covered under the factory powertrain warranty. Truck has 52K on it.

Lovely. Mine just started to do this. A 2010 with slightly over 48K on it. I am due for an oil change soon, so I'll try that and see if the filter thing has any effect (it is a decent filter now, but is at the end of the change interval). I bet it is the exhaust bolt issue though. At least I found out/was reminded that my RAM has a 100,000 mile powertrain warranty to take care of it if it is.

Hope they updated the bolts and the manifold.... if they just put the same type new parts back in, problem will be back for sure.

They replaced the bolts and the manifold. The heads were snapped right off the bolts. They had to weld a nut to the bolt to get it out. The Service Manager brought the old manifold out to show me it rocking on the counter and not flush. He didn't want to take a chance of leaving the warped manifold on to just snap the next bolts.

Well, the oil change did nothing for it. Took it in today and they found a broken manifold bolt. Should be all back together and ready to go now. Crossing my fingers that it is better when I pick it up. They said the manifold itself was fine, so they just replaced the bolt and gasket.

Yeah, the dealership seemed to do a good job with it. No issues that I could find. And they had it fixed by early afternoon even though they had to order in the gasket from their parts supplier.

Thanks for the compliment. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the truck cleaned up after our long MN winter (no hand washes for 6 months!). As you saw in another thread, the side steps, wheels, and exhaust tips polished up real nice. And I didn't end up with any notable rock chips from all the sand on the MN winter roads. After a good detailing last weekend it was looking almost new...
