Default Help...Installing leveling kit

I am about to install a Daystar front leveling kit. In the process I have to separate the top ball joint to get the strut out. What is the best method/tool for separating the ball joint without compromising the ball joint boot?

Thanks in advance

Ummmm... You do not need to remove the ball joint... Do a search... Bilstein 5100 height adjustable install (pic heavy) and you'll see my thread of how I removed the springs and struts. Just disconnect the LCA and your sway bar and a few other items and bam its done.

Loosen nut flush with top of threads and hit it with a big hammer. It should take 1 good swing.

I did this install a couple weeks ago and didn't need to remove the ball joint. The best helpful hint I can give you is that it is MUCH MUCH easier to slide it back up into the housing once you ad the spacer if you remove the brake caliper and set it aside on a block to keep it within the distance the brakline will reach. If you don't remove it and just try to wrench the arm down far enough to slide it back up into place you risk it slipping and jammin a hole in your CV boot....OOPS!

No Prob, it was amazing how quick the other side of the truck went when I figured out how to do it properly. That went 100% the same for when I did the rear suspension bags as well, I probably spent 1/4 of the time doing both the leveling kit and the suspension bag on the 2nd side then it took to man handle the tower back up into the housing for the leveling kit on the 1st side!...lol
