Default 2010 1500 cc brake controller

was wondering has anybody here used an after market brake controller (ie p2 or husky, etc) because you did not like the oem brake controller. Just want to see if spending the extra $200 for the oem is actually worth it.

thank you for your help.

Buy the OEM controller, your truck is already wired for it.
Why take the chance on aftermarket and have some halfwit butcher your wiring harness.
Also, the OEM unit works with your EVIC in the dash, aftermarket will not.

six of one half a dozen of the other. Brake controller companies have been making their units a lot longer than Dodge has. OEM is a cleaner install but aftermarket is really easy, biggest problem is location. Aftermarket wiring harnesses just plug in right under the dash and the truck is already wired for the rest (most of them do - if not, some splicing is needed but ir's not difficult). I believe that if you go OEM, you have to go to the dealer and have them flash the truck for the EVIC to work (extra cost). I'd go with the OEM if saving a couple of hundred dollars is not the issue.

Dodge dosent make their own brake controllers, they have vendors that build them for them. Whether its an OEM or aftermarket, they`re all pretty much built the same, (some are junk, some are ok) but i would much rather pay twice the money for an OEM unit and KNOW it will work properly and fit in the factory hole in the dash rather than have some aftermarket unit hanging down under the dash to knock my knee`s into, or worse, drill holes to mount the aftermarket unit. (and again, some halfwit bogus install, is it worth the risk...?) And when you install the factory unit, and have it flashed to work within the EVIC, you dont have to try an look for an aftermarket to see what the settings are or where its set at, much easier to just look at the EVIC in the dash. You`re right, 6 of this 6 of that, just depends on what a person wants in the end result. Just my opinion, with as touchy as these vehicles are today with electronics, i would choose OEM everytime, i know it will work with my truck and not chance frying anything in the electrical system. It prolly wouldnt, but i`m not the type of guy that drives 10 extra miles just to save 2 cents on a gallon of gas.

Some are plug-n-play today, here`s one i googled

Controller

Wire Harness

I`m not sure if these are correct for your particular truck, so research it.
I only copy/pasted these in here to show whats out there in the aftermarket world.

If you shop around and order it online its about the same price as an aftermarket one. I think I paid about $130 shipped for the controller and bezel.
