Engine Noise
Hello, I know this is an old subject, but I got POed this weekend. My frend stoped by with his 08 Ram 1500 with the hemi,21,000 miles, has not changed his oil+filter in 9 months. You can not hear his engine at idle, dino oil,5w20. I have syn. 5w20 in my 09 hemi ram,14,000,change at least twice a year. Once it warms up you hear valves ticking.I have tried many different oil filters+ oil combos. I GiveUp!
I've got the same noise, I've read somewhere that this could also be related noise from one off the pulleys. When listening carefully in my garage the sound is much more pronounced on my passenger side.
I have to go in soon for the for the tie-rod recall. I'm hoping to find a dealership with enough ambition to maybe listen to each pulley with a scope. Rather then give me the generic answer of this being normal operating valve train noise. I have at least 6 or better 4th generation Rams in a all Chrysler local club, none which have this noise, and the mileage ranges from 8k to over 45k, along with several 3rd generation which don't experience this issue either.
