Just to play devils advocate here. Looking at your past posts I can see that you have a 4" lift and a tuner.
What size tires are you running and what have you been doing with the tuner - does it mess with the trans shift points, convertor lockup or anything else trans related?

Most of the time folks who feel the need to put a tuner an a nearly 400HP truck do not exactly drive them nice

Did you look at the fluid yourself?

 

OH!! I didn't see or know THAT. The guy in the dealer might have been making a excellant call on that suggestion. Also fill out your signature of your vehicle so we ALL know what you drive with mods.

 

To answer your questions, I do have a four inch lift and run 35 inch tires. I also run a diablo fuel economy tune, I haven't messed with any transmission tuning on it. I'm always monitoring my trans temp while towing. The highest I've seen it is 185, its usually is in the 170s.

I had a chance to check the fluid myself yesterday and to me it looks perfectly fine. What do you think?

If it is fine, I still pretty upset with the service manager saying it needs changing and if it isn't changed now it could affect my warranty. I called Chrysler customer service and they said that there is no way my warranty could be voided unless I changed the fluid past 60k, no matter how hard I drive my truck. But they did say they won't cover a fluid change under warranty at 35k unless an actual problem with the trans was found.

 

Looks perfectly fine to me.. Any bad smell?

 

If you have access to another dealer or shop, get a second opinion. Then you will know.

 

Fliud looks fine. 60k is ONLY with severe usage. the other schedule is what? 100k? If thats the case they can't void or say a thing if not done at 60k either. Now if a service advisor ADVISED to do it at 30k as a preventive maintance not much wrong with that either, especially with big tires,lift and such. I've done the very same thing many times. RECOMEND, not saying its gotta be done. The lift,big tires and most certainly the AFTERMARKET TUNE will and does affect your warranty on the entire drivetrain. The OLD saying is. YOU play,YOU pay!

 

Yeah, I completely understand that. If he would have just ADVISED it I would have no problem. But he said the fluid was bad and that if I didn't change it now he would put it in the system saying he advised me and I didn't do it and that could be cause for a voided warranty in the future, which is completely untrue. So from my perspective he lied to me about having bad fluid and lied about possible warranty implications.

 

He sure did. Besides HE can't void warranty's. Only the manufacture can.

 

Looks fine to me. Mine looked like crap at 55K and had to be replaced.

 

Did the service guy know you had a tuner? He probably already put that in the computer if he knew, and that probably voided your warranty right there.
