Stock tires
Hi guys,
I have a 2011 sport crew. I have 28,000miles on her now. Tires (Goodyear Wrangler HP) have about 1/4 life left on them. My wife was in the truck the other day and she turned to me and said the truck sounds very loud. I said what do you mean. she said i hear alot of tire noise.
My question to you guys is did you notice some noise coming from your tires when they were towards the end of their lives. Everything else is tip top with the truck. I just got the truck serviced 2,000miles ago and wheels rotated around 7,000miles ago. 95% highway miles on her. im **** about my truck too. shes pristine.
Thanks

Most tires get noisey as they age/wear.
I didnt have mine on long enough to be able to comment. Stock tires(HP's) suck. Pulled them off real quick. They spin with any moisture and just suck in the rain. They roll on the corners. Dodge uses them because they are cheap and make the truck ride smoother because it's pretty much a car tire.
This is a good time for you to have your wife be completely fine with a new tire purchase...lol

Not uncommon at all, the goodyear HP tires are **** tires.
I replaced mine at 33,000 they were shot. Worn out and all choppy.
The treadwear rating for the goodyear HP is only 340
I installed the BFGoodrich Radial Long Trail T/A Touring tire`s (275/60/20)
Has a 60,000 mile treadwear warranty. Far better ride and handling over the GY-HP.
The treadwear rating for the bfgoodrich i bought is 580
When you go to replace your tires, pay close attention to the tread wear rating,
bigger the treadwear number, the more miledge you`ll get out of them.

I made it to almost 30k with the stock tires. They started getting louder, though you couldn't hear them much over my exhaust. I still had a little bit of thread but when I blew a second one out on a recent road trip we knew it was time for an upgrade.
I went with BFGoodrich All Terains, 305/50/20s. So far I've got about 500 miles on them and couldn't be happier. They do ride a little rougher than the stock car tires, but the performance is a lot better.

Goodyear does make some good tires, maybe not the HPs but my SLT came with SRAs and I was happy with them, not great off road but great on the highway and very were good on rain. I had 45,000 miles on them when I replaced them, they were wearing even and not noisy, but I was going on a 2 week, 3000 mile trip towing and replaced them with Cooper Discoverer ATRa. So far I like them, was off road quite a bit in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming and the Coopers were great. Two things to consider here, I stayed with P vs LT tires and the SRAs I took off were 115 load rating as well as the Coopers. Most P truck tires are only 113 Load Rating. With the P tires the ride is better then the LTs and if you get the 115 load rating you get plenty of tire. Also the Coopers are American made.

I had HPs on my '05 Ram and while not the best for traction in snow they did wear well. It's replacement tires were GY Silent Armour and I really liked them. At tad bit noisier but had fantastic traction and were wearing really well when I traded the truck in. When they come on sale I'll likely get a set for the new truck this winter and sell the factory HPs as they only have 5000 miles on them.
