Default Steel Challenger Hood for 2012??

I plan to go back to my dealer since they have this hood on some of their new trucks. Not sure if it was a factory option of dealer installed but it was $750 !

I went to a local body shop to see what they could do. He was very much against fiberglass do to the extra time (cost) to fit and finish it but said his supplier doesn't list this hood for the 2012 yet??

I've seen several guys with this style hood so where did you find it and what did it cost?

There are no aftermarket people making a replica, you want it, you have to pay Chrysler for it or find one used. And hate to tell you, but if you want to buy from a dealer it lists of 2K for aftermarket. Sure, some dealers will sell for less, but you will be VERY hard pressed to get it for $750. They are not dealer installed, factory installed.

Yeah I have one. Its called a sport hood and it's a factory installed option on some trucks. I think it was a $825 option here in Canada.

Good luck finding a Dodge hood.. I've been looking for a week now, and the ones that I have found at dealerships are all spoken for. Dodge has 60+ on backorder now, with no ship date. There is a fiberglass version.. Extreme Dimensions sells them in fiberglass and carbon fiber, I'm just not sure of the quality, but they are half the cost of Dodge..

That's a lot of cash buying one from the dealer after the sale. Plus don't you have to also get it painted even after you spend the $2K?

If it was a functional hood I'd be all over it, but since it's not I haven't been able to justify the looks for the price.

Great info !!

I did get in touch with a Mopar dealer on ebay and got the part number and price info. Then contacted my local dealer. Seems the retail price is about $1070 but no one has them right now. Based on the sight mentioned above the inserts are another add-on I didn't even think about. Still need to get it painted and installed :-(

I think I will try some salvage yards and see if there is a waiting list for one that way or see if the aftermarket catches on with a reasonable priced one. Not sure I want one this bad??

$$$ Might be better spent on a lift or stereo system !
