Anyone have this problem...I lock the doors with my Key Fob and 5-10 seconds later the doors re-open and the light flash and then stay on. If I manually lock the doors a few times from the inside and then close the door they stay locked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

I haven't had those specific symptoms but I'm getting poor range, intermittent no lock or no unlock events. Some mornings the remote start wont work on one remote but will on the other. I'm chalking mine up to needing new batteries but they are only 18 months old.

 

Batteries are cheap....should replace them once a year regardless...!!!
Mine stopped having problems with it "not working" AFTER i replaced the battery.

 

While this could certainly be a FOB battery issue I would just like to ask if you have another FOB or sentry key that you leave somewhere in the vehicle. If so, take it out and see if that solves your problem.

 

I decided to investigate a little more into this problem. I had my son take the key fob into the house well out of range. I manually locked the doors and they stayed locked. He came walking out with the keys in his hand and the doors unlocked without him pressing the button. I decided to take the key fob apart.
I discovered two small circular tabs loose inside the fob. They looked to be contacts between the button and the circuit board. They circular contacts on the circuit board were dirty so I carefully cleaned them. placed the circular tabs I found back over the contacts with an tiny tiny tiny dot of glue to hold them in place. I then put it back together and PROBLEM SOLVED. One of those small tabs had shifted just enough to create contact on the "open button" so that the remote kept emitting the "open door" command. Oh, I did go buy a new battery and put it in after the problem was fixed.

I have also been having gremlins with my key Fob and the door lock buttons on the inside of my 2009 Laramie. The problems have not been constant, but still occur at least once a week. I will go to lock or unlock the truck using the key fob, and nothing happens. After many clicks of the unlock button, the doors may unlock, or they may not. I usually have to wait a minute or two, then try to lock the truck from the fob, then unlock it. It is SUPER aggravating. Nothing like standing in the pouring rain trying to get into your $46,000 vehicle.

I have replaced the batteries in both remotes and the problem still exists. To make matters worse... sometimes I will be trying to lock the truck using the key fob and it doesn't work. Then, I open the door and try to lock the truck using the lock button on the inside of the door panel, and that does nothing too. I can't lock the dang truck! Anyway, I have it in to three different local dealers on at least 4 different occasions and they blow me off saying they can't duplicate the problem. I think nobody believes me. This has been happening since about the second week I bought the truck. Yes, I bought it brand new. This is not an issue with the key fobs. It is related to something in the truck.

Any ideas? Sure would love some help on this one.

 

You either have a connection issue to, or at, the control unit, or the control unit itself is faulty.
Locate the control unit and wiggle the connections going into it, then go from there.
Tap on the unit with your hand, see if you can duplicate any issues.
I`m going to bet its a bad control unit, and this is not uncommon. (Made in China..! nough said)

The Dealers:
they`re blowing you off because they dont know how to help you... most of them are not smart enough to open a cardboard box on their own.

 

LU229, any idea where the control unit is loacted within the truck? Is this called the win-module? The dealers keep telling me they can't replace components if they can't diagnose the problem. Maybe I should take it in again, since the truck is now out of warranty. I'm thinking they will be more than happy to figure it out now that I am paying for it.

 

Funny, I had similar gremlins with one of my keyfobs last year. Took it back to the dealership to have it fixed. My gremlins took it upon themselves to set my alarm off, lock and unlock the doors and best of all, remote start the truck. I thought at first when it started acting up that there was something wrong with the buttons so I put the keyfob in a cupboard far away (or so I though) from the truck. Didn't think anymore of it until one day my neighbour said "why did you start your truck but not go anywhere". Apparently this wasn't the first time "I" had done this. Just as well it shuts off after 15 mins. Who knows how many times this had happened. Anyway, removed the battery and then took it to the dealership where they fixed it.
