Default Valve stem warning.

I highly suggest everyone go check their valve stems. I know there was already a post on this earlier from someone that had a failure, but I went to do my brakes today and found both my front rims have cracked valve stems. I have Maxcare 7/70 so they are covered however I have a $100.00 deductible. But still at $80.00 per piece or at least that is what they said....Better than nothing. Now I just have to drive 86 miles one way to get to my dealer.
Argh!

Oh, and BTW my brake pads still had 1/2 the pads at 52,000. I proably could have waited until Spring to change them out......Just an FYI.

You don't need to replace the whole tpms. Any tire store will have the kit and stem. parts cost is around $15 from the tire store or $8 at the local auto parts store

You do have to replace them, the threads corrode and then crack the nut. I've had two tires lose air because of is. Should have been a recall IMO. When that nut falls off theres nothing holding the valve stem sealed against the rim, one big bump and it falls into the tire and rapidly deflates.

You do have to replace what? Not the whole TPMS - just the stem and nut/seal kit. Just had one done on thursday.

No issues on mine. I have no tpms sensors. I have regular plain-Jane valve stems on my rims.

Really? I thought they all had to have them now that some states check the TPMS system at safety inspection time. Well my snows are just gonna have stems and no TPMS's. Got an ppointment Friday to have the valve stems fixed. I just hope they don't let go on the way there.

I have no safety inspections or emissions in my county. I just turned TPMS off with my tuner so that stupid light stays off.

Yeah most big name tire places keep the kits on hand. They say it's rare they don't have to replace the stem when they do tires. About $8 a piece like other poster said

I'm glad the '10s don't have the nut on them. Just a pull thru type stem.

Ramulak,
if you have them all replaced, tell your stealership to install the 2010 type, no nut, just pull thru style stem.
You can also just replace the nut like others have said, but make sure your threads are still decent on the stem.
