amsoil
I'm due for an oil change with amsoil. I've been using 0-20w so far and like it but I see they have 5-20w in the 25,000 miles series should I switch my weight any cons or benifits to ether one.
Follow your OEM owners manual, then you cant go wrong.
If you`re buying AmsOil, you`re spending to much money.
Nothin wrong with using amsoil, i just dont see the reason for the added expense.
This is what i`ve used in every hemi vehicle i`ve ever owned:
Factory OEM mopar oil filter
Valvoline SynPower 5w20 or Pennzoil Ultra 5w20
Mobil 1 - No Thanks

Stick to 5w-20 which is what the manufacturer reccomends and what is required for your MDS engine. While the only difference is that your 0w-20 has better cold start lubrication because it's thinner when it's cold. At operating temps, they are both the same and perform the same.
25kmi rated oils simply have more additives to prevent breakdown. I would stay away from extra additives because they turn into a slimey, greasey waxy substance and stick to every surface inside your engine if/when they do break down! Same oil, just more additives.
Beside's, I'd never expect to get anything over 5kmi out of any oil!
If you do, you should plan on changing the oil filter every 3-5kmi or it'll get plugged.
Amsoil uses PAO's just the same as Mobil 1 which is a group IV Base Stock. Valvoline uses Group III base stock which is NOT Full Synthetic although they advertise as such(it's a blend of dino and synthetic). Valvoline Race oils are Group IV. Castrol Syntec is another lower grade Group III Base stock that labels their product as Full Synthetic when it is not and is whats called Hydrocracked. Cheapest labeled Synthetic out there! It's essentially a very refined/filtered dino oil to remove impurities and paraffin wax and is Not synthesized oil(synthetic).
Mobil 1 is pretty much the same price as Valvoline so for that, I'd choose Mobil 1 over Valvoline when I'm doing an oil change. I STILL use valvoline if it's onsale though. Since I'm religious about my oil changes, it really doesn't make a difference to me, But Mobil 1 is a better oil of the 2.
Amsoil is overpriced plain and simple. It's same quality as Mobil 1 for every day driving. To spend 30-40% more is silly because it's throwing money away as far as I'm concerned. If you stick to 5kmi changes with Synthetic and use a quality filter, I don't care what brand you use, you'll reap the same benefits!
Mopar Filters were made by Champion Labs, I think Purolator makes them now. Heck, they may even have both companies making filters for them still. Eitherway, they are standard run of the mill Paper Media filters.
I prefer Purolator PureOne, Mobil 1 or Bosch filters as they have Synthetic Media. They will filter out smaller particulates and have more pleats per sq/in so they have more capacity as well.

20 bucks a yr you get preferred cust. status which gives you dealer prices. And yes OE 5-20 is about 5 bucks a qt. I use all amsoil products in all my toys. There gear oil is the best oil I have ever used. I used mobil 1 yrs back. Not impressed.

I wouldnt have ANY problem running amsoil, but two things stop me from using it... the price, AND its availability.
Its very hard to find any dealers for it where i live, when you do, its twice the price of good decent synthetic oils...!
I`m ten minutes from chinamart, valvoline or pennzoil is $24 bucks for a 5qt jug of valvoline syn-power or pennzoil ultra.
I dont care about all the amsoil guru oil tests either, any good synthetic will do just fine, so why pay the extra price.
When the oil looks dirty, change it, spin on a new filter, engines are happy.

Im a preferred customer with amsoil and dont see much difference in the prices compared to other synthetic oils. As far as availability goes they ship right to the door in a couple days. I run amsoil in my 2 trucks, 3 sleds, and bike. No trouble with either since i started using this oil back in 07. (knock on wood) lol.
