2 Small Kids in a Ram? Doable?
Im 6'1 and like to drive with my seat all the way back and i comfortably fit my 13 yr old sister & mother in the back seat of my quad cab. But of course the extra space the CC gives you would always be nice. (If you dont mind the smaller bed)
I bought the crew so that my 6ft + kids would fit with 6ft dad driving.
I went from a quad cab/super cab to a crew with one of my trucks back in 2005 and swore I would never do it again. The bed was just too small for me. I have 3 kids, 18, 16 and 14 and we are good with the quad cab if we take the truck. never really take the whole family more than a few hours with the truck anyway. I am 6 foot and oldest son is over 6 foot. The ram quads with the full 4 doors are easier access than the f150s.
Going from a quad to a crew, you only lose about 9" of bed, but gain 6" in foot room in the back seat. An additional 6" may not sound like much, but the difference inside is HUGE. Also, the slightly shorter overall length, makes it more garage friendly. These trucks are really big. MHO
I love my CC but miss the longer bed. Most of the time it doesn't matter but I do have to carry 6 foot long items regularly and it's a pain in the rear to load. I had a extended cab before and it was crowded there for big adults but not with young kids. I would consider going to a quad cab if I had to do it all over again. This is my first CC and I just needed to try it and am glad I did. Also, I put shells on my trucks and with a 6'4'' bed, I can put a pad in there and sleep in there if I needed to.
I went from a 2006 Q Cab to a 2012 CC my daughter needed more legs room the Q cab worked great when she was much younger now she 10 years old long legs and we haul her friends around also the CC works great for us.
As for the Bed space I dont use it much it more like a big trunk for us I have a hard folding bed cover on my truck.
I sat in the back seat my self before I purchased my truck to see how much more room it has compaired to the Q cab in the Q cab my knees were in back of the front seat I am 6.2 now my knees dont hit the back of the seat with room to spare with the front seat all the way back.
Kids dont get smaller after time just taller you be glad you get the CC get the Hemi gets about the same MPH as the other motors with power on tap.
The NEW V-6 seems like a good deal but I never get a full size heavy truck with a GAS V-6 ever again my 2006 had the V-6 in it get the Hemi you be haappy with it and the V-6 in a CC I think it will be underpowered and the MPG willn't be great so get the Hemi it get about the same MPG.
I Know my 2006 Q-Cab was a good truck but the V-6 was a bad combo for that truck my Hemi get the same MPG with plenty of power.

I have never had a problem getting plywood from the luimber yard, I have 2 trucks a quad cab and a crew cab, BOTH carry the wood, the bed in the Crew is just a LITTLE smaller, not this measurement that some keep calling a lot, the wood doesnt fall out on the highway, and you cant lay the plywood down in the bed of the quad with the tailgate up so what is the difference, also just put the child seats ON the seat in the back of both trucks, all that we are saying will be apparent, there LEGS WILL touch the front seat, on the quad cab, , try it...... grown people sitting far back in the seat, is COMPLETELY different, the child seat takes up a lot of the space, that is not usually known....I will have to take a picture of the seats in both trucks to show you.
