Meh, I use my bed all the time and the extra 9 inches that you get in the Quad doesn't make up for the lack of interior space.

But with a quad cab I can fit my dirtbike and quad nicely because there is plenty of space between the wheel well and back of the bed to fit the front tire.

I have a quad and agree with both sides of this discussion. I would love to have the extra room of a CC for my older kids and dont find the difference in bed size is an issue. The original question was for small kids in car seats, so with that said, I think the quad would suffice but try the car seats first. As someone mentioned before, they take up a lot of room and it might be fine for kids just out of the car seats. Also, I wanted a CC but chose the Hemi instead, cost wise. Not everybody can afford a Laramie CC with Rambox.. just an opinion.

Thanks for all your responses guys (and gals!). From all your feedback, I think I would probably be looking for a crew cab. The truck will be hauling kids most of the time with the occasional trip to the dump or run to Home Depot for building materials. Seems like the quad cab is probably better for work and the CC for leisure. I'm sure you can do both on each model to some degree, but I would be really buying this truck as an upgrade to haul the kids. Also a big truck with 4x4 is nice in Montreal - good for snow and to keep tailgaters at bay!

Cheers

Had the Quad 3rd gen, works fine with kids, at time of trade they were 2 and 5 and owned truck for 5 years, now the CC makes life a little easy and wouldn't go back to a quad JMO, both trucks went on plenty of 12 hour non stop trips with all in and a Yamaha 660 in back to woods of Tennessee, no problems, the loss of less than a foot makes no difference but to have the interior space especially as my kids get older= priceless!

Clearly once kids get to small adult size a quad cab gets tough for long trips, but if they are very young a quad cab will work just fine for quite a long time.
