Default Anyone else have defective wrangler hp's ?

Kind of funny actually. I was asking prior info on winter tires. Thanks all. Anyways I'm standing next to my new truck last night, which I haven't used in two days, and a loud hissing is heard. So I inspect and front tire is losing air. Slow at first than blam real loud and air going fast. So I jack up truck take off tire and looks like a seperation happening and a rot. I put spare on of course so I can bring tire to dealer. I expect that it'll be my fault somehow. Of course I never liked goodyears (once a years). Thankfully the highway driving I do with family no blowout. I was wondering why new truck pulled that way. I figured if and when I brought in for service I'd have it checked than. Besides truck has less than 10,000 miles but been pulling that way for a few weeks now out of the blue. I baby this truck. I also read a lot of complaints about this tire tho. I'm hoping for the best from dealer. Any one else had issues so I might have some ammo ?
Btw there are chunks of rubber missing all over tread from normal flat roads ? I thought that was strange to.
Thanks all

P rated tires on a 1500 truck are nothing new, crap tires on a 1500 Ram are nothing new, all across the brands, ford, Gm, Dodge, ect, they put cheapest tires on thease trucks to get the mpg numbers up, but the tires are underated to the trucks hauling or towing ability.

The tire warranty is through Goodyear. Best bet is to just take it to the nearest goodyear store.

Well surprisingly Goodyear covered for a New Tire. Although I'm not a fan of goodyears after a year maybe two tops, they stood by their product. Than again dealer tried to patch a split ( not a hole ). Well it kept splitting right across the tire. I thought that was strange. Anyways they covered it.

Not to make you worry, but... keep an eye on the other tires and check them frequently. Do a walk around before you get in and drive it.

I have always been in the habit of checking the tires as I walk up to any vehicle I drive before I get in.

I don't think that Goodyear as a whole makes bad tires. But the Wrangler HP seem to be one that most people are not too happy with. That being said, I really liked the way it drove when the roads where dry, but the second they saw winter, I knew it wasn't going to be fun the next year, so I picked up a set of Wrangler Silent Armors. I have been very happy with these tires. So don't write Goodyear tires off completely.

On topic, it is good that they replaced the bad tire, but as others said keep an eye on the remaining 3 tires, and if you do see winter, and you can afford something better, maybe just upgrade to a better tire and forget about the HPs. OR sell them online to recoup a little cost. I think I got $400 for mine.

Isn't the wrangler HP pretty much a street tire made to look like a truck tire? Seems that way. As I do not tow or go through mud bogs I will just run them until they die. If they are like my last truck's new tires (generals) they will only last like 25k miles.

Its a street truck tire - so if you live where you only drive on pavement and there is no snow then they should be just fine.

I have the 17's so mine came with the Goodyear SRa, which was an OK all season and lasted about 45K

When it comes time to replace them go to a "LT" tire and get away from the "P" tires.
