Default Remote start and headlights

Hi. 2010 ram 1500 here.I am wanting to know what i should do for remote start ? Go with Mopar factory key fobs or a viper with install that has 2000 ft range but is $400 with install. I guess i would need my truck reflashed with new key fob.

Also, i was out in the good ole Kansas country last weeeken. My dad has a 07 silverado. And let me tell you. His lights make mine look like terrible. I didnt realize how ****ty the lights are on these rams. Dodge better improve them in 2013 or its going to steer me from buying Ram again

I have the Viper 5904, love it in almost every way, the range is really crazy, I can start mine when I leave my office, and can barley see my truck, it is cooled off when I get there, the size of the remote is VERY large, so you either leave the big key fob with the big remote , or you get a key that has a chip in it and get it set for your truck......i like being able to be in the movies and knowing that the remote will notify me of a break in..also just one of the MANY features, is , if my truck feels the voltage of the battery drops below 10.5 volts the engine starts by its self till it is charged up, if the temperature inside the truck goes below or above a preset temperature, it will start and run till the temperature is reached, of course you can turn that off if you dont want that .
For me it boiled down to options

Maxbob,

You probably already know about the Mopar remote starts but if not you can check them out at the link below. Also, the headlights on the 2013 models have been upgraded.

Really? The truck starts on it's own when it gets cold out? Man I hope you don't park in a garage.... I will say I am glad I have the open hood sensor on my starter as I must have bumped it a few times the other day while the fob was in my pocket. I had the hood open and was checking the oil when I heard it try to start. the open hood sensor stopped it from firing up......Whew.

For all of you in the 12 Volt world with me, DB-ALL and RSR Mode. A DB-ALL is an interface module used in the 12 Volt industry to interface aftermarket remote start and security system modules with different types of vehicles. The amazing thing though is that our truck is COMPLETELY drive by wire. That essentially means, that when you push on the accelerator, your not pulling a cable like in the old vehicles, your pushing an accelerometer that tells a little motor, how much you are pressing down. This means that a Computer controls every single aspect of your truck... but what does this mean you ask? So the DB-ALL also has something called RSR Mode for certain vehicles 2009+. What does RSR stand for? Remote Start Ready. Essentially, you can program a DB-ALL to be a remote start and work off of the factory keyfob, no reprogramming or anything. I did it about 6 months ago and loving it.
(question from random guy... But wait, I dont have a remote start button on my keyfob?!)
The DB-ALL Sets that when you press the lock button three times within 5 seconds, start the truck... Install took about 5 mins... and whole thing costs around $100.

Don't Believe me?

Just thought I would spread the love!!

Extra info: the only thing not mentioned above is that if you would like your running lights to turn on with remote start, you have to tap in to them behind the headlight ****... only two wires though.

Ok... I have a 2010 Ram 1500 4x4... Mine is the ST model, which means that the truck has power windows and locks, but no key fob. I have a regular key that has a chip in it? Anyways, I purchased the Crimestopper SP-400 Rem Start/Keyless Entry/Alarm. I also purchased an Omegalink DB-ALL interface module. I am trying to understand just what I need to actually connect here... I have the wiring harness, which to my knowledge, takes a lot of the pain out of this for me, but there are still wires that I have to splice... For instance, the 'F' connector goes to the 9-pin high current plug for the 12 Volt incoming etc... So, in short, am I just splicing the wires from the harness to the 9-pin high current connector, even though the 12 volt wires are much bigger? Seems odd to me... If there is any information that anyone needs to know, I will provide, and any help is appreciated! Thanks!
