Default Did you use the sleeve or bulb?

[QUOTE=astroman54;2905663]I replaced the pulled out rivet nuts with these from McMaster Carr size M8x1.25.

The larger flange made a sturdy install and the steps are back on using the same bolts as before.

Which one did you use? Sleeve or bulb?

New rivnuts don't work too well if the old ones rusted out though or got damaged. Better to weld a plate for a reinforced surface, and switch to nuts and bolts instead of the crappy OEM mounts. Northspec Built has the kits for it: https://www.northspecbuilt.com/produ...-repair-plates

I'm kind of at a lose here, I spent a lot of money on these running boards so I don't want to throw them away. But unsure how to reattach w/ the damage that is done & how to resecure to keep this happening again. Or do I start from scratch and get another set, if another set does anybody have any ideas of a better set? Sorry for the long winded post, and thanks for your help in advanced...

I recently bought a 20120 2500 mega cab and found the same issue. The running boards had been ripped of at some point ruining the mounting points. I bought the following running boards before discovering the problem. (https://www.ebay.com/itm/165874540585) Not to be defeated, I moved up about 1 1/2 inches above the existing, used the upper holes modified for the lower attachment points and cut new upper mounting points. They worked out great and are just a little over an inch higher than intended.
