Default Remote start... Not working... and other problems

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 just the other day the remote start doing strange things..
It would start the truck then run 5 seconds then stop
It would not even start the truck
It would start and run for 15min with no problems

I have checked the the screen when start nothing shows up
It has more then half tank of fuel at all time
i have check the switch at the hood latch

Anyone have thought on this...

Adam,

As per the Owner's Manual, page 26, all of the following conditions must be met before the engine will remote start:
- shift lever in PARK
- doors closed
- hood closed
- HAZARD switch off
- BRAKE switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
- ignition key removed from ignition switch
- battery at an acceptable charge level
- Remote Keyless Entry PANIC button not pressed
- fuel meets minimum requirement.

Please Note: To avoid unintentional shut downs, the system will disable the one time press of the REMOTE START button for two seconds after receiving a valid Remote Start request.

If you have tried all of the options provided and you are still having problems with the remote start, you may want to review further with your Dodge dealer for a complete diagnosis.

I hope this helps!

Fuel level would do that, but not at half.

I thought Windows not rolled up could do it as well.

Adam,

Assuming it is a factory remote start system, if you do wind up taking it to the dealer, ask if the case below could be related to the issue you are having.

Case Number: S1008000047
Release Date: 11-06-10
Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Remote start inop, vehicle starts and stalls on a remote start attempt.
Diagnosis: When the customer tries to remote start the vehicle, the engine starts and runs for one to two seconds and then shuts down. Vehicle will start and run fine when using the FOBIK inserted in the WIN module. Remote start inhibit/abort data will show a “low RPM shutdown” abort; even though the engine starts fine and will generally still be in a normal idle flair when the engine abruptly shuts down. Normally, a “low RPM shut down” abort would set if the engine RPM drops to around 400 RPM or below. No low rpm or engine running concerns are noted with vehicle.

Also forgot to mention, many times the evic will tell you the issue (if you have a evic). Remote start while sitting in it and watch the evic.

All these have been met...
- shift lever in PARK
- doors closed
- hood closed
- HAZARD switch off
- BRAKE switch inactive (brake pedal not pressed)
- ignition key removed from ignition switch
- battery at an acceptable charge level
- Remote Keyless Entry PANIC button not pressed
- fuel meets minimum requirement.

It is a Factory remote start.

I think there is a bigger problem here there Remote start...

Put my truck into park today and

- Service Trailer brake light came on
- ESP 4WD came on
- the Traction control light turned on

It's going in on Friday to dealer

I would recommend you take it in and have it looked at. To many different things can happen to cause the same kind of reaction. If I had to guess I would say a speed sensor, it would be the most common failure to cause this, but it could be a number of things.

Oh and I can lay down two stripes of black rubber if I turn off TCS with the button.
