FYI - you need a lock on your tailgate, this then make you able to lock/unlock remotely. I will want this option on any truck I ever own in the future.
He was asking about removal of the tailgate once it is all installed (disconnecting the wiring harness)

Awesome find ! ! !
I have a cover on the bed so I keep the tailgate locked and hate dealing with the key. Why didn't Dodge just use the 1 key to open/start everything???

One question.
I have the electric door locks with the remote and remote start. How does this operate the tailgate lock? Will it operate the tailgate every time I open the drivers door? Or if I double click to open the passenger door? Some other combo of buttons?

I think it opens with the drivers door, but I've got my truck set up to unlock all the doors when I hit the remote unlock though, so I'm not sure.

The answer depends on how you wire the lock. I have it connected to the rear door lock per the instructions. That way it only unlocks on the second press of the unlock button on the FOB, unless of course you have all the doors set to unlock on the first press.

I only have the std cab so just 2 doors. It is set to unlock driver first click and the pass door on the second. I didn't know you could set it to open both at once I have to look into that one!

In your case, you could wire it in with the passenger door if you did not want the gate to unlock with the driver's door.

There are settings you can change in the EVIC setup menu for auto locking and the sequence of locking. If you don't have the EVIC, I'm not real sure how you do it. They may only be able to be changed with the dealer tool?? You'd have to look in the owner's manual to see what it says.
