Default Low RPM Whine Figured Out

Hey guys just wanted to pass along some info I got from another forum. Seems if anyone has the whine like i do at 1000-1300 rpms it has to do with the cooling lines going from the tranny to the radiator. Apparently at these rpms there is some harmonics due to the bracket holding them. So fix is take off the bracket and put some insulation around about six inches of the tubes and walla. Again I didn't figure this out read it from another member so thanks to him and just wanted to pass it along.

This is super news! This started happening about a week and a half after buying my new 2012 1500 hemi. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was a normal noise. It has pissed me off ever since, but manageable with the radio turned up. I wonder if I bring this to the dealership's attention, they will perform it under warranty? Is it possible to post or PM the link to the site you got the info? Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

There should be no issues discussing this with service manager if he's proactive.

Where is the bracket? On the transmission or body?

The bracket is supposed to be on bolted to the radiator support. I haven't crawled under mine yet, but it sounds like if you follow the lines from the tranny to the radiator you should run into the bracket. hopefully easy to get at.

This fix is confirmed by me. No need to crawl underneath. The lines are marked as "transmission". All I did was take out the bolt in the bracket (big phillips or 10 mm) and stick a piece of hard foam between the trans. lines and where is was bolted to. There is enough pressure to keep it held in place. I did not take off the bracket so it would be easier to reinstall if and when Dodge comes out with a fix. I took it for a ride and was pleasantly surprised that the whine had decreased by about 90%. The following pictures are taken from the passenger side.

Cool beans, worked for me as well. I had time today to experiment with this, wish I had seen these photos first, however I figured it out after about 10 minutes.

Thanks for the heads-up WIexpress.

I did this repair to mine today and from what I can tell it worked. I have noticed this noise since day one and have tried to figure it out but never could. My 09' didn't do it. It has always irritated me. I need to drive it more but I think it might be fixed.
