Have had mine done for a couple of days and still no whine. I took some pipe insulation and jammed it in and zip tied it together. So glad it's gone

Is the whine you describe sounding like a wheel bearing going bad. last summer I was noticing a whine on the highway and thought one of my front hubs were going. everything up front is tight. Hubs are good. I may have to try this. I do not get the whine all of the time but when I do it is difficult to tell where in the front its coming from.

I think if you had the whine you would know. Only happens at around 30mph and 40 mph when rpms are 1000-1300. Very noticeable. Was thought it was torque converter problem there are a few long threads on it. Just a fyi I had a piece rubber I found rolled up and put that in first, but didn't like how it sat so I replaced it with pieces of foam from pipe insulation. The whine is still there a little more noticeable with the foam, so I am going to put the rubber back, could barely hear it at all with the rubber.
