Default Auto Dimming Mirror - Reverse Circuit?

I haven't been able to find this anywhere on the forms. I am trying to hook up an auto dim mirror on a 2012 Ram Express. Does anyone know where to hook the grey wire for the reverse circuit too.

I have the supposedly auto dim mirror. It doesn't do anything. I think the rear window is dimming the headlights behind me enough to not activate the mirror. I have had it 4 years and never seen the mirror dim. Even when I hold a flashlight to it. Pre check your mirror to see if it even works first.

I'm in agreement with Ramulak. The tinted rear window on my RAM along with the tinted window on my cap keeps the mirror from dimming. I did use a flashlight and managed to get it to dim though, so I know it works.

I know the add on Dodge rear view camera gets power from the reverse light circuit, and it hooks in to a wire on the TIPM in the engine compartment. You may have to go there to tie in. When I get time I'll look over the wiring diagram for my 09, and give you the wire color to look for.

The 2009 wiring diagrams have the reverse light circuit as WT/RD (white/red?). then as it gets to the handsfree mirror, it turns to BK/LB (black/light blue?) The colors on some wiring was changed on the newer trucks, so I would double check with a test light or meter before permanently hooking into it.

Let us know how you make out.

I have to install the harness. It has three wires coming out of it, one to power, one to ground and the other is gray that needs to tie into the reverse circuit. I need to find somewhere around the dash to tie into the back up light circuit. Is there anything in the area to tie into?

Is the purpose of tieing into the reverse lights to un-dim when backing up?
I use my outside mirrors for that I hardly ever use my inside rear view for much of anything. Maybe you are the same and probably don't really need the gray wire.

I believe that it is to undim when in reverse. The colors I gave were for the wire in the interior of the car that leads to my mirror. You may want to check the bundle of wires that comes through the firewall behind the emergency brake area. If the truck is pre-wired for the Uconnect module, then it will appear behind the lower glove box along the outer kick panel where it goes to the harness up the passenger A pillar up to the mirror.

You should find out what EXACTLY do you have in your truck. Even tho there is a button with Green LED in the inside mirror, it doesn't mean it has a Dimming mirror.
Some Dodge product have Auto Dim INSIDE and OUTSIDE mirror. But some of them will only DIM the Driver side outside mirror. And Both of these option have a Button with Green LED that controls it in the inside mirror.

So, when you Turn ON the AutoDIM feature, you should try to shine a flash light at ur driver side outside mirror, and see if it dim.
