Default ESP, ABS, SERV4WD lights came on... HELP!

went to work they came on, left work they went off then back on when i came home. from reading here sounds like may be wheel sensor or ABS module. my warranty runs out next year but i read where this may not be covered. so my question is i found a wire leading to a harness which is attached to the back of the rear wheel hub. is this the wheel sensor? can i take the harness off, it looks like it could be kinda hard to do.. any suggestions on what and where to check would be appreciated and thanks for having me here-sean

That's correct, there's is a harness running to each wheel. Start at each wheel and follow the harness as far as you can and see if a wire is not spliced or something, I had that exact issue and found the pass side front wheel sensor spliced where there is a connector near the wheel well.

I ended up cutting the wires and splicing them back together with great success. I just couldn't believe the 2 cheap lil wires right by the wheel well where all the salt and road grime goes.

my prob is, the wire runs to the back of the hub where it goes into a harness clip that is actually attached to the hub. if i follow the wire back, it goes up then is taped to a bunch of other stuff and all that is wrapped up thick and goes under the bed somewhere.. the harness clip that is attached to the hub looks okay and it looks like it would be hell getting off, but there is a bolt that attaches the unit onto the hub. your pic doesnt look like it was attached to the hub but rather up higher somewhere. but thanks for your help, i have been looking for hours and cant seem to find any info on where the wheel/abs sensors are lol.

my pic is from the front wheels. The sensor is plugged in behind the rotor kinda, one hose is the brake hose for brake fluid and other hose/wires is for the sensors. Only look where they are exposed and see if you can see something frayed, if it goes into a harness its most likely not broken in there. My problem was in the front pass wheel and was a stupid fix that would of probably ended up costing lots at dealership, they would of probabbly replaced the hole harness on the truck or something stupid.

If it's under warranty just bring it in.

Should be covered under the warranty. Take it to the dealer so that they can scan it and tell you which wheel sensor is acting up, then they can figure out if it is the harness or sensor itself. I had a wheel sensor go bad soon after I bought my truck and it was intermittent as hell. They thought it was the wiring and replaced part of the harness and then the whole harness. Finally they swapped the rear sensors side to side to see if the issue followed the sensor. It did so they replaced the sensor and all was well.

Hula,

No reason this would not be covered under warranty unless aftermarket parts were installed at some point. Let the dealer handle it under warranty at no cost to you.

Pure and simple, these so called tech`s today are just "bolt-on" specialists, they keep bolting things on until they "by mistake", find & HOPEFULLY fix the problem.
Well, in my case there was a reason for what they tried. This all happened when my street was torn up and there were hunks of clay hanging from the wiring and it looked stretched in a few spots.

LOL.... well i cant remember what size boots i wear, but as usual, i just shoved both of them in my mouth again.
Regardless, i would have switched out the sensors before i would have ordered a harness... but i DO get your point.
