It's a tough choice because if I get the transmission then I have to get the dial shifter and I would rather not have that...

Understood. The dial shifter is a big change.

I sure dont know why everybody is so pissed off about this new "Dial Shifter"
Especially the guys that bitch about their shifter cables getting frozen up in the winter. (electronic shifter, never freezes, ALSO takes up less room)

Maybe this dial shifter in the dash makes them feel less manly...lol

Could be the sissy effect, I suppose. I'm more inclined to think that for some it's just the fact that it's a change and humans in general are very resistant to change. Look how long it took for the population to get over their fear of not having a clutch pedal.

I'm old enough to remember the same reaction to Chrysler's typewriter shift in the late fifties. I cannot think of one person who after getting use to it didn't love it. Even the police officers I knew liked it. It only seemed awkward if the vast majority of cars you drove had the shifter on the column. I had to drive both and it never bothered me.

With the advent of six and eight speed automatic transmissions I think the relationship to a manual shift lever has made the shift lever irrelevant.

Best regards,
Dusty

Shift schmift, since I can't get a straight stick anymore, I don't care what method they use for me to put the thing into D.

Did you guys notice on the Ram website that the Bighorn package has a huge discount? I wanted to get a Laramie, but the Bighorn has an extra $3k off. I spec'd one out to have everything the Laramie has and it was like $10k less... What does the Laramie have that the Bighorn doesn't and can't be added?

OEM spray-on bedliner seems very good, I haven't noticed any imperfections so far. Seems pretty durable as well, loaded some heavy stuff yesterday which I had to slide in.

I recall when I was comparing interiors back in 09 when the 4th gen just came out, all the Big Horn's I looked at 3 different dealers had the base SLT cloth seats, hard plastic dash and door panels. Sport and Laramie had the nicer interiors. Not sure if that has changed since then.

The Laramie has ALOT more plush interior items, softer leather, softer arm rests, color match softer door panel padding, alot more fancy stitching, chromed out more inside and out. (trimmed out in chrome around the vents and dash stack, and door panels) Sound system is more premium. Upgraded wheel package on Laramie trucks. Many things make the Laramie a much more expensive truck over the standard bighorn and the slt trucks. The Sport truck has very simular features as the Laramie, but not quite as nice to the touch so to speak. Laramie`s base price is a bit pricier as well, due to the upgraded features. You get what you pay for usually. Question is, what can you do without... $10,000 in creature comforts...???... no thanks, not my cup of coffee. In my opinion, chrome dont getcha`home. Engine and driveline are pretty much equal if compared. Wheels and suspension do show a bit of difference though... depends if you want to tow or not. Pretty much comes down to personal taste. You wanna play, ya gonna pay.

If you really want to know the exact difference`s, go to the ram website, all the info is there.
Dont depend on the forums for 100% correct information. Most everything in the forums are based mostly on personal opinions, thoughts & ideas.

I`m with ya Dusty, i remember the old push button shifters chrysler had many many MANY years ago when they came out. People pissed themselves when they saw that. Who knew, later on, people that drag raced them old cars opted for the push button over anything else... they LOVED them...!!! You`re right, people just fight change, sometimes it works out for the better, sometimes not. Personally, i think the the dial shifter is a great idea. You get in, select the "D" and go..!!! Dont get any easier than that..!!! lol
