Hey Guys,
The actuator finally failed completely. It just sits there and clunks away....forever. I took it to the dealer yesterday and it was once again fixed under warranty. I hope that this is a final fix, but kuddos to Mopar for treating me right.

2009 Ram 1500 5.7
Sluggish starting for the past several weeks. I replaced the original 4.5 year old battery and now it only clicks and the dash lights are going crazy. I tried tapping on the starter and shifting the transmission.

2009 Ram 1500: I had the recall performed over a year ago. Today, my local dealer diagnosed "109860 has code for mode door actuator, when actuating motor would make clicking noise, internal motor problem, gave est on repairs to replace motor actuator."

Is this covered under the recall? Dealer wanted to charge me for it. I came home to do research.

From what people have said in the past I would think it would be covered, but I am not the dealer or Chrysler.

Your best bet would be to e-mail the Chrysler customer care person on this site and ask for guidance with this problem, also a call to the customer care hotline would probably be in order.

Let us know how things work out. Good luck

Just had this same issue taken care of on my 2010 and Dodge fixed with no charge. Over 36 months but about 17k miles at the time (I know, don't drive it enough...)

had same problem, since i was out of warranty, Dodge refused to cover the costs, Like i too am pissed it seems dodge is very inconsistant, i even mentioned to the manager that some other owners didnt have to pay even after warrantty was out. Didnt make a diffrence, problem is some of these dealers are franchizes and they hate warranty/recall work because Manufacturer pays less labor then actual time they would charge customers!

My 2009 is doing this again at 78k miles. It's done it twice already. They've fixed it both times but it was under warranty. Will the dealer charge me? Seems like I shouldn't have to if it's a recall

I know this is an old thread but hoping it is still reviewed.

I have a 2009 RAM 1500 with this same issue. I had the recall completed in 2011 and the Dealer told me that it is no longer covered since it is past the 1 year warranty for the repair? Not sure if anyone has any information on how this would be handled?

I am in suburban Detroit and 1 dealer mentioned $1200 for the repair. I have it currently being checked at another dealer.

Thanks.

I had to replace them when i was out of warranty, they said there was no recall. They were charging $900 because it was the rear actuators that were bad. Ended up doing the job myself with the help of my bro who so happens to be a mechanic lol..took about 7 hrs (unrushed with breaks), replaced all of the rear actuators since they are only about $50/each.
