Default Picky or Problem? Fog light fit issue.

Ok, new guy here. Not new to RAM or Dodge.

Picked up a new 2012 RAM 1500 Sport a few days ago. Made a grave error by not checking every nut/bolt on it before driving off. The next day as I was working out in my garage, I noticed a lot of space around the passenger fog light. After close examination, it was really not even close to being flush with the bumper cover.

Is this something the dealership will fix? Or, based on the provided pictures, am I being too picky? Yeah, the scratches were there as well. It was late the night we picked it up, but still no excuse for not going over it.

Been a while since I've had a new vehicle and IIRC they will give me grief over this?

Any guidance and/or thoughts - greatly appreciated.

Have you compared it to other 2012? If you can find one with the fit is better, if it is an issue with you, show the service advisor and your sale person. If it is not factory spec, then by all means Dodge should make it right.

IMO they should match in fit. they do seem to much off from one another.

You said new or new to you? I would think the dealer has some splainin' to do if it is brand new and has scratches above the fog light that doesn't fit right.

New dealer stock. 33 miles on it. Last 2012 Sport they had. From pics I've seen on the Interweb, they all look flush to the bumper cover. Dealership is about 50 miles and will have to drop it off so thought I would check here for possible scenarios.

You all rock!

I found on mine that the bumper cover had one or two tabs not fully seated. It made mine bulge out a little on one side. You could check for that. You may have to pull the grille and headlights to see the tabs.

Pretty obvious to me by the look of the scratchs (damage), its been hit or has run into something... and thats why its not sitting in there correctly. Somebody had to have drove into, or someone backed into it. Thers no way this truck came like this from the factory, the fogs are usually very well fitted within the bumber covers on the sport trucks. I`ll bet the fog light mount is even bent too.

Taking it back to the dealer tonight. I agree that something happened to it and quite possible it could have happened when they were trying to hurry and get it cleaned up (close to 9:30pm when we finished the deal). I'm sure it's going to be a "we don't know anything about that" scenario.

Thx again all!

Yeah those scratches tell a story. I don't who's story, but it tells one. My truck was a demo. 4,000 miles on it when I bought it. It was used to go to car shows, as it is an early '09. Mine didn't have a nick on it in 4K. So your dealer deffinitly has something to explain if it came like that. You should have gotten some kind of discount on it and it should be fixed if sold as new. 'Cause new doesn't mean F'd up. Not for the price you pay for new anyways.
Like you said though. Shame on you for not looking it over real good before leaving the lot. They will most likely just blame you for it now

Well now you'll find out what kind of dealer you have after the sale, it looks minor to me and the dealer should make it right to keep the customer happy.Good luck

Contacted my salesman and sent him an e-mail with the pictures. The service manager reviewed the pictures and they want the truck on Monday morning so they can make it right.

So far so good, but will have to wait until then to know what their version of "right" is.

Whatever happened was enough to bend the support bracket that the fog light is mounted to. I compared it to the driver side and it's way off behind the scenes. Big bump.
