Mobil 1 is under $5 a quart when you buy a 5 qt container at WalMart (sometimes as low as $4 on sale). Why would you use Amsoil, which is not proven to be any better than Mobil 1, for THAT high of a price differential??

Amsoil XL series which competes with Mobil 1 I pay about $5 something a qt for. I rarely see Mobil at $5. But then again I DON"T go into Walmarts or other stores shopping for anything much less oils. There7 are7 lots OF rumors about Amsoil and prices,thickening and all kind s of amazing other things. Facts,prices who sells what and how much,oil makeup and additives all those answers are at peoples finger tips if they would just LOOK instead of guessing and shooting from the hip. Oil and spark plugs on some of these sites are a hoot too read and fiollow. Full of stupid BS sometimes.

 

Yes, valvoline does offer the 300,000 GUARANTEE. (Syn-Power Only) You have to register on their website.
Now, do i think it makes their oil better than anyone else`s...? Yes, for the money, not many can beat it for price & quality. And i dont see any other oil on the market thats willing to offer that. That alone, tells me, if an oil company is willing to stick it out there with a GUARANTEE, take bashing from others for doing so, what the hell, i`ll give them my business... they DO have to back up what they`re selling..., right..?!?!?! Oil is far better quality today, as for MY faith in their GUARANTEE, i highly doubt i`ll ever have to worry about collecting on it, i`ll never own a vehicle long enough to even know if they would stand behind it. (as you all know, ALL guarantee`s have VERY strict rules, and usually ones you cant even meet, to collect on them) I`m just sayin, if a company is going to throw a GUARANTEE on their product, they`re just dareing you to try their product. (simple term`s, marketing scam) Next thing is collecting on their GUARANTEE, its likely alot of BS if you ask me. Lets not forget, valvoline has been around a very long time, i`m pretty sure they`re not going to put sh!tty oil out there on the market. But to pay $10 on up, for a friggin qt of oil...???... no thanks, i`ll go to wally world, $5 a qt for valvoline syn-power 5w20 (if you buy the 5-qt jug) and you can buy your factory OEM filter there as well... and those are only $5 each.

I`m not knockin AMSOIL, it is a very good product. I`ve used it many times in my harley`s until the price got out of control for the stuff. I`m just NOT going to pay their price. (especially for 7 QUARTS each oil change...!) If the price was $5 a qt, sure i`d run it, but then i`d have to wait for it to be shipped to me... go to town get an oil filter. Wally world is 10mins from me, can get it all, right then an there...saves me time AND money. Run what ever makes you happy, i`m very happy running valvoline... AND its the only oil i`ve ever found, that TOTALLY gets rid of the ticky lifter noise in my hemi`s.

Not looking to start an oil war here, just sayin ther is GOOD quality oil`s out there for better prices.

 

Many oils have those guarantees. Not just Valvoline. Go to their web pages and look and read. They have been doing that for years.

 

The infamous oil war begins..........the truth of the matter is any of theses products by a major manufacturer, ie, mobil,quaker state, valvoline, kendall,penzoil, will work just fine,or they wouldnt be in bussiness, as long as you use the proper viscosity,its merely a matter of personal preference, and at @5-6$ a quart thats why i use valvoline,not on the premis of some guarantee,but as LU pointed out,it does show a willingness to stand behind their product,and they have been around forever..In my own experience, i used amsoil in the 5.7,and switched to valvoline, and didnt notice any difference in temps,sound or performance, but thats just me. Any of you Harley guys who are on v twin forums, will know this issue has been raging on for eternity,but in the process , there is an abundance of info on there, from all walks of life, and manufacturers.Also, sometimes i may quote higher prices on oil because im thinking bike oil cost, my bad and apologies.And i agree, you need to weed out all the BS from the self-proclaimed experts/forum gastapos

 

One thing I'll say about Amsoil. They were the FIRST in synthetics and for years were one of the ONLY. Some guy on the Corvette forum use BRAD PENN oil. http://penngrade1.com/

 

Yeah, they like that Brad Penn Stuff on the VIPER forum too, me i run Valvoline in the old V10..............

 

I buy my valvoline (syn-power 5w20) and OEM mopar oil filter at wal-mart.... ($24 for a 5qt jug) i`ve NEVER seen ANY other oil brands besides valvoline, stamp a 300,000 mile guarantee on their bottles/jugs. If you`re saying others do (that sell their oil to/at wal-mart), then post them up in here. I`m not saying others dont, i`ve just never seen the 300,000 mile guarantee on any other oil`s sold in wal-mart.

I could be wrong, but i believe if my memory serves me right, valvoline is totally made in the USA (kentucky) with ALL 100% USA products & components.
The others, not so much.

These oil mileage warranties have been around forever. The top synthetics sold by some of these have the longest warranties. Wonder why? Seems like they think engines must last longer on top of the line synthetics. Gotta be something to it.
