Default Oil change to Amsoil

Went to the local guy that sells Amsoil. There saying around $85 for a oil change on my truck. Said that they would do a engine flush with Amsoil flush befor switching over to amsoil. would cost me a extra 10 bucks. Is this a good price for the oil change? They say they will do oil change for free labor just to get me to run the Amsoil. so the $85 would be just for materials.

Amsoil is like 13 bucks a quart, so i think so, just make sure its a quality filter, or bring your own.My two cents.

Froy, shop around, thats price seems terribly high. To be honest with you, i run valvoline syn-power 5w20, w/factory oil filter in every hemi i own. You can buy it ALL at walmart for half of what you`re gonna pay for your amsoil snake oil. Not to mention, valvoline will give you a 300,000 mile guarantee, will amsoil do THAT, for you, in writing...??? Your choice, its your money & truck.

Just my 2 cents

I thought there was an issue with Amsoil thickening which messes up the MDS?

But you have to run Amsoil, it is the only one that contains the magic fairy dust.

Amsoil is not $13.00 a quart. Even their TOP OF THE LINE isn't. It dosen't thicken any more then any other thats run too far. All oil thickens some when its shot, run too long. I investigated such. BS. Amsoil has many different oils and products. Their XL line is equivalent to Mobil 1. Its has a hair bit stronger additive pack. I pay $5 something a Qt for it. Its what I run in 3 of my vehicles. My vette included. If the vehicle has had proper oil service there is no need to use any flush. The Amsoil flush basically helps oil drain more thoroughly. Read the can or the info sheet on it. I use many Amsoil products even their hydraulic oil in my New Holland tractor. Their products are known for quality and considered Top Tier world wide. I like the ease of ordering and shopping and Big Brown delivers usually in 24/48 hours. There are many good oils these days and you could use many and get great results. Far more synthetic choices then 10 years ago. Amsoil has a 'preferred' customer program which has a nice discount over retail. I joined that years ago. All their products are here. www.amsoil.com

If it is a change with their signature series oil and EA filter that is a good price. Oil is retailing for $10.15/QT and the filter around $17.

The Signature series and EA oil filter are a UP TO 25,000 miles. With a 8,000 mile max and or every 6 months the XL line(5w20) and a quality standard oil filter is all thats needed. Now if he wants to run oil way out there then the Signature and EA. I've been using the XL and I'm not driving the truck very much these days. My corvette is getting the miles. I let it go up to 8 months and about 6,000 miles. Sometimes thats only been 4 or so. I keep receipts and records.

Well I guess the local Kawasaki dealer, who is an amsoil dealer ,is a crimminal, sells it for @ 13.00 a quart, higher or lower depending on the application, Now i understand if someone is tapping a barrel. its much cheaper.thats why i run Valvoline syn 5w20, and a mopar filter, with a wraparound magnet, and i dump it at 6k, they got plenty of it at autozone, for 7$ a quart. As for the Amsoil harming the MDS, never heard that before, and I cant see how a synthetic oil of the proper viscosity would do that, and i ran amsoil for about 45k in the ram, and zero issues, but im not an expert, just 25 years of running CAT and DEERE powered Earth moving machinery,Grove Cranes, dodge trucks,VIPERS and various powersport, BMW and HD motorcycles.OH YEAH<and Stihl chainsaws..............lol
