Default shoulder belt dinger

Is there a way to disable the dinger on the seatbelt/shoulder belt on the new Rams? I think the manual told how to disable it on my 2007 Ram, but haven't found anything about it in the 2012 manual. Thanks.

Should be there, difficult to find within the manual I will say that. The 2 wires going to the seatbelt under the eat can either be cut or tapped together based on the circuitry. i'd have to look into it to be sure but that would stop the dinger and remove the light on the dash as well. It's a simply ground brek circuit and bypassing it does not effect the safety of you at all, just removes the annoyance of the dinger and light on dash letting you know you dont have your seatbelt on. Like you didnt know to begin with...lol

This worked on my 2009 Ram Sport
i believe theprocedure is:

starting with the seatbelt buckled: turn the key from off to on (don't start the engine), wait for the seatbelt light to go off,

Next, buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 3 times (ibelieve?) finishing with the seat belt buckled. Now turn the key offand you should hear a chime indicating that it was correctly programmed.

1) Buckle yourseat belt
2) Turn the key to the On position
3) After seatbelt light goes off, Unbuckle and Buckle 3 times ending in the Buckled position.
4) Turn the key off.
5) A chime will indicate success

You will still get the ding when you start the truck. this only stops the ding after you start moving and have not put your seatbelt on.

thanks for the great suggestion. I always buckle on the road, but when on the deer lease going from feeder to feeder it would be nice not to have to buckle to turn dinger off.

I see. Another free alternative would be to buckle the belt and just sit on it. Might get snagged up on any leathermans or anything you have on your belt though.

Buckle it before you get in, then pull the shoulder part of the belt around the back of the seat.
Doing it this way will save the headache of cutting any wires, re-programming and what not.
Or, you could just go to a salvage yard, cut another seatbelt up for the buckle, pop it in when you need to, not in use, toss in glovebox.
