Which Tonneau Cover?
So I want to get a Tonneau cover. I am looking at getting the Bak Flip G2 mainly because of its flush-mount design. They are pricey though and only come with a 2-year warranty. I would like to hear from others who have these and how they are holding up.
Thanks.
Thanks.
I've got the Bakflip F1 - had it for about 3.5 years after having a HD for a few months.
It is fairly similar to the G2. Overall I'd say it has held up pretty well, but It does have a couple issues.
1) The rubber seal above the tailgate ripped - which was my fault, I had the cover panel open with only 1 bungee on it and it flapped up and down a bit.
2) One of the panels is delaminating - you can see bubbles under the plastic, looks like water crept in and froze.
3) I put a ski pole hole in one of the panels - my fault, but I was surprised at how easy it punched through. I had set a pole on top the bed and then opened the panel which jammed the grip against the back window and pushed the tip through the panel.
Functionally, it still holds the weather out, operates and latches the way it did when I got it.

Love my BakFlip, but it's had issues.
1. Little clips that hold the arms snapped off within 6 months of install.
2. Rust along the top edge, mainly along the medal bits that allow you to tie down only a section or two.
3. Heavy hail damage. The big panels just can't take it.
Thankfully the last one did the cover in. I'll be getting another HD when insurance fixes all the other damage.

Wow, the Bakflips don't sound very robust! I use my truck to occasionally haul wood, sand, stone, etc... so I need something that I can quickly move out of the way. The Backflip seemed to be the ticket. By the sounds of it though it is not very tough. I might be just as well off to save $500 and buy a fabric cover.
Thanks for the info. I will check out the Perragon also.

I've always had great success with the Access Cover. The one on my older truck 6 yrs. roughly now, zero issues, and they get open and closed during winter sub-zero winter temps, or hot blistering temps during summer. Water tight too, and my '09 Ram has one as well.

I have a Bakflip Fibermax. I'm happy with it. It's light, easy to open/close, and the price was decent. I had a problem with the first one I had where the rubber seal along one of the side edges was pulled up at a joint, and the screw under it was stripped out. Clearly a manufacturing defect. I emailed their customer service and they asked me for some photos, which I sent. A few days later, I had a new cover. I put the old one in the new box and they had UPS pick it up and take it away. Very happy with their customer service, and the fact that I didn't even have to get on the phone.
The cover itself seems strong, but I do not walk on it nor put anything on top of it. It looks good and keeps most of the weather out (I live in Seattle area and it's not totally waterproof, a few small drips in certain places).
I don't really like how it rests against the back window when it's fully open, so I've only used that feature a couple of times. They provide some thick rubber padding (sticks to the cover itself). I always wipe the back window and area around where it rests to make sure there's no grit that will damage the paint.
