Like Mike Mine is also a 10/08 build. I was at the dealer on Friday. Got my plugs changed, transfer case and tranny douched out, cleaned the fuel system, new air filter, rotate the tires, etc, etc. $899.00 plus a free rental car for the day. A Grand Caravan....Geesh. You'd think I would have gotten at least a Challenger....LOL. The advisor read me the recall on the truck and then stated that the parts were not available yet. That all seems very strange to me. Why send out a safety recall and not have the parts. Do they think that this makes us feel oh-so-much-more comfortable driving down the freeway? While at the shop I had them top off my fluids in the rear as my seal is also spewing oil around the back of the truck.
During the week I drive my truck about 200 miles on the highway at 70-80mph. Better not lose a drive shaft at those speeds.
I did get a couple of compliments about the condition of my truck though. Even the mechanic mentioned how clean and rust free the truck was at 60,000 miles. Hmmmm...makes you wonder what they meant by that though....

I got my recall before Christmas stating that parts will be available sometime in the first quarter of 2013.
The first quarter has come and gone
I haven't driven the truck since I got the recall in December because I need to protect myself and my family from any potential "catastophic failure"
I don't mind paying the monthly payments, insurance and registration for a vehicle that is unsafe to drive, because I know that dodge is working diligently with MY best interest in mind, sparing NO expanse to ensure that I get my vehicle repaired and back on the road in the most timely matter possible.
I don't mind my warranty period wasting away month by month while my truck sits parked because I know dodges utmost concern is the safe care and well being of each one of their valuable customers.
I feel confident that leaving my truck parked, out of service, is the best possible option because if there were ANY possible temporary fix available or any alternative option dodge would be on it offering it to all owners of the affected recall vehicles.
We should all be thankful for the faithful team at dodge, working relentlessly, without rest to establish a repair procedure for this issue.
Hats off to you Dodge.
