Default Question about 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 Bumper

So I am having an issue, I was hoping someone could help me. We have rented a 2013 dodge ram 1500 because our truck is in the shop, well my husband towed his boat with it this weekend and damaged the rear bumper.

I am searching for a replacement online, but can't find anything for 2013. I know they are probably too new, so my question to all dodge experts is:

Would a rear bumper from another year that has the same characteristics fit? Like a 2012 or 2009, from when they changed the body style of the dodge? I can find bumpers that look similar but they all say for 2010 or 2009.

Any suggestions?

Newport,

There was a body change for the 2013 models, therefore I do not believe the rear bumper from a previous model year could fit. It may be possible with some modifications, for example different mounting brackets, etc., however I do not recommend that.

You should be able to order a bumper for the 2013 model at a Dodge dealer parts department and they will be able to confirm the parts compatibility for you.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to PM me.

I don't understand. Doesn't your regular car insurance cover your rental. Or the credit card company that you used to rent it? Also did you not take out rental insurance when you rented a truck that you were going to tow with? I sure would have. Anytime you tow you can get yourself into trouble quick on the road and I sure would have wanted the extra insurance just for this reason. But I would contact your regular insurer. Why should you have to go find bumpers when you pay an insurance company to cover you and do the work for you?

The rear end didn't change on the 2013s. Only thing that changed back there appearance wise is the addition of LED tail lights on higher end models.

So, to answer your question, yes, you can use a rear bumper off of any 4th Gen RAM (2009 - 2013). Just be careful if you're buying sight unseen, there are some models that had chrome, others that had body color matched.

Good luck.

no i didn't take out the extra insurance, i used my own insurance. I was just trying to not pay $1000 deductible.
