Default Air filter sizes

What's up with the air filter sizes for these trucks? The air filter that came with my 2012 is way thinner (maybe a little over an inch) than on the 3rd generations (nearly 2 inches). I went to replace mine recently and all I can seem to find in after market filters is the regular (2- inch) depth filters. Is this something unique to mopar? Btw the after market (Purolator) filter that I bought at Wal Mart says it's 95% efficient while the OEM Mopar filter says it's 98% efficient.

Thanks.

I just bite the bullet and purchase the filter for my 09 Ram from the dealers part department.

I will admit I really have not researched what is out in the after market.

I've just been using the Microguard from Oreily. Looks like there are a couple aftermarket types though if you feel like spending money - K&N and airraid

Yeah I actually still have the Fram Airhog filter from my '03 (fits the '12) but to be honest I don't believe in using oiled filters anymore - they never seem to come clean and the oil likely fouls the IAT sensor.

I was surprised by how thin the stock filter was and I think if I can't find it in aftermarket I will probably go back to the dealer for it.
