Default Tire balance

I just had a set of tires installed. I had been dealing with vibration from the factory wranger due to poor tread wear.

I noticed that with thw new tires there is a slight vibration at highway speeds. I really only notice it if i hold the steering wheel lightly.

I have the 20" wheelss.
Should the tire shop be able to get it 100%?

Yes - they should be able to balance them.

However, you should be asking yourself - if the original tires wore funny and you have a vibration with the new tires, is the problem the tires?

You probably need a road-force balance. And, if you have the plastic chrome-clad wheels, a special adapter is required to properly mount the wheels to the balance machine.

Got new tires this year (Wranglers) at a local shop and had the vibration issue. Took it back for a road-force balance, now truck drives smooth as glass again. I had to explain to the shop about the need for an adapter, I guess they figured it out.

The orignal tires were cupped. The tire shop said it was due to the balance. The alignment was also off. I found a local shop that uses a hunter road force machine. I was going to try that but may give the installer anothef try.

Make sure to mention the adapter for mounting the wheel to the balancer. Not all shops know about it.

Is the adapter specific to Dodge? I found a Chevy dealership that is close to home and can do it tomorrow.

Not sure if it's specific to dodge; my guess is that it would be. Google for TSB 22-002-09 for more info on the adapter.
