for starters...make sure the tire pressure is set 2psi above the placard setting. This ensures overnight temp drops won't trigger a low psi alarm first thing in the morning.... and then the light goes off when the tire warms up.

no way to eliminate a federally mandated system...move to Canada where some of the vehicles built for us have winter mode

Not a big deal to change out a tpms sensor for $20.They only last 7 yrs on average.I change them out in my driveway. You usually only need to break the bead on one side of the rim. I start with the stem at 90° to the shoe of a manual bead breaker so as not to damage anything.ymmv

There is no "registering" the new sensor. Each sensor's transmitter broadcast is uniquely coded so that the WCM (wireless control module) can monitor the state of each of the sensors on the four rotating road wheels. The WCM automatically learns and stores the sensor's ID while driving after a sensor has been replaced.

There is no formal retraining procedure necessary.Drive the vehicle for a minimum of 10 minutes while maintaining a continous speed above 15mph (24km/h).During this time, the system will learn the new sensor ID code and will clear any DTC's automatically.

I just looked for some sensors on E-Bay, and some say they need to be " relearned/programmed ", and a tire shop needs to do this. Is this correct?

Be careful about buying sensors on fleabay. If the seller is telling you that they need to be "relearned or programmed" and that a tire dealer needs to do it then the sensor they are selling is not the right one for your truck. The genuine Chrysler/Ram 433 mhz sensors (old#56029398AA or AB or new#68406537AA ) or the genuine Schrader #20398 aftermarket will automatically relearn after installation by simply driving the truck above 15mph for about 10 minutes and the system will automatically turn off the warning light in the dash and the new sensor ID's will be stored. No formal programming is required or necessary unless you go with a universal redi-sensor.It's not like the older GM vehicles. If you're buying sensors made in China then you're probably going to have problems. There are a lot of Chrysler counterfeit sensors on the market out there.Schrader is the oem supplier to Chrysler and their sensors are made in Irelenad(UK) and some in Mexico. They have never made or sourced sensors from China. If you get the real thing then you won't have any trouble in my experience.Hope this helps you.
