Default Remote start!!!!

Im wanting to install a remote start system in my truck (2012 1500 sport). I read somewhere that sometimes the remote stsrt system is already installed and all you need is the new fobs, does anyone know how to tell if my truck already has it, or if I need to buy the whole system ?
your help appriciated.

Default Me too!!

I'm right there with you, just got a 2011 2500 and want to add remote start. Mine has the tip start where you can just breath on the key and let go and will continue to crank until start. Seems like it should be an easy add, like a module. Wondering if its there like you've heard and just needs the key fob and maybe a computer flash?

Mine had the wiring but not the module and required hood catch. See if you have a un-connected cable assembly adjacent to your hood catch. To truly verify, follow the instruction guide on the website below and look for the necessary components.

I should add that that is on my 2011 Sport.

Nice to know, but do you have a brand name, model number, or maybe a link to the website that has the exact one you speak of..?

The one advantage I will give to the stock set-up is how it's integrated with the HVAC system. I start my truck in the cold winter morning and the defrost is turned on full as well as the seat and wheel heater. In the summer, the A/C is on.

On my last truck I had an aftermarket set-up but I had to remember to turn everything on max (defrost & Temp) when I shut it down the night before.

Look into the DB-All and wiring harness. It is around $50 for the unit and maybe $15 for the harness. It installs in seconds and all you do it press the lock button on the factory FOB 3 times to start/stop it.

My guess this is what the guys at Best Buy would install but it is so simple you will hate paying to have someone else do it.

Any more info on this D-ball unit? Seems like it worth a look.
