Hi every one I am pretty new to this site and have been reading alot.
What I need help with is the MDS do i have it installed in my truck and if i do how do i install a light to let me know when it is active
my truck is a 2009 ram 1500 st

you have to have a hemi to have mds. my 09 sport it says fuel saver in the bottom right just above the cruise light. you can turn the light on and off in the menu so if you have a hemi, look in the menu to see if the light is turned on.

 

i do have a hemi 5.7 i have the cluster with out the screen its just a small one that has milege and temp

i have herd of some people adding a wire near the comp so they can install a light on there dash, small led or what ever

 

You cannot simply add a light, it would also take programming, as a matter of fact not all Hemi 09's had the lights, they were a mid year add.

It is also a very big mis-undersatnding and some will not even believe after being told. That light does not mean MDS is on. It simply means you are driving "economically". I believe the exact thing that triggers it is cruising and less than 20% of trottle.

 

i know the third gen guys know how to add a light, check the third gen forum. the dealer told me the fuel svr light was mds and with the window down i can hear it.

 

Believe what you want, but MDS is not always on when the FS/ECO light is on.

 

If you send me the last 9 of your vin. I can check the build sheet and let you know if you have MDS on your engine.

 

I have to correct part of this, from everything I have seen the Fuel Saver is only featured on the 2009 trucks and does signal MDS on/off. It was changed to ECO in 2010, and reprogrammed to reflect driving style and not the MDS. Every time I've had my FS light kick on, the MDS went with it and when I went 6 months with MDS shut off I never got a FS light.
