My experience with towing and my rear coils = My 04 1500 had leafs. When I got my 09 I had to bump my preload on my WDH 2 notches to make it sit as level as the 04 because (I think) the coils allowed more sag. Beyond that, the 09 tows so much better than the 04. I agree with the stability as previously mentioned, it’s also much better than my 04. Combine that with the better power of the 4RTH Gen and towing is a pure pleasure. My TT is about 5500 or so fully loaded, perhaps if it weighed more the coils might be an issue, I don’t know - I would never tow much more with a 1500 anyway. When not towing, I would NEVER go back to leafs on my 1500, it remains smoother than most cars I have ridden in, really. I do understand the concern about coils on the 2500, they will be towing more weight, I guess we will just have to wait for the verdict on that one.

I don't think my 2012 Ram squats hardley any more than my 08 F-250 super duty did. I KNOW it squats less than my 04 Ford F-150. I'm sure they have done some research on this. And I agree the OLD thinking was coils=soft ride, leafs=rugged truck. Times have changed. I guarantee the coils on the 2500 will be lots heavier than on the 1500. Plus, the torsion bar is the big differance.

I've got about 15,000 miles of towing a 30' Contender up and down the East Coast corridor. No real hills to deal with. Total weight is around 8500lbs. Tows like a dream with electric over hydraulic brakes. I have all the speed I need but rarely tow over 65mph due to a canvas t-top. A set of air bags in the rear coils pumped to 35 psi during towing stiffened the coils up and took away any sag. With four wheel Kodiak disc brakes and a Titan EOH brake controller, I feel a lot safer towing with my 1500 than my 2500 with surge brakes. Unfortunately, I don't have any real truck bed capacity at that weight.

With that said, I plan to buy the new coil spring 2500 this fall or next spring.
