Crap, I got all giddy when I saw that initial post. My 2009 only has 35,000 miles on it, but I busted the 36 month part of the warranty last summer.

Murrellplumbingllc,

Does this happen all of the time or intermittently?

CAL is displayed with the automatic compass needs to be calibrated. The compass is self-calibrating, which eliminates the need to manually reset the compass. When the vehicle is new, the compass may appear erratic and the EVIC will display CAL until the compass is calibrated. You may also calibrate the compass by completing one or more 360–degree turns (in an area free from large metal or metallic objects) until the CAL indicator displayed in the EVIC turns off. The compass will now function normally.

Please Note: A good calibration requires a level surface and an environment free from large metallic objects such as buildings, bridges, underground cables, railroad tracks, etc.

Seem as though I have the cold start exhaust ticking.

Doesn't really worry me knowing what it is, but wanted to know if there was an updated TSB for the 2010s.

Seems bolt and gasket part numbers are being updated regularly.

Well, I came here looking for something else but this may be the overall issue. Would this issue also cause some intermittent sulfur smell (usually on acceleration)?

I have the ticking as well. Though I'm not sure it is related. I've had it for around a year now. It is there on idle, but goes away when I hit the throttle. It also goes away after the truck is warmed up for a bit, somewhere around the 10-15 min mark possibly.

I just had this same problem fixed on my 09 crew. Cost me shy of $600 at Dealer. Was out of warranty by 2 weeks!

I don't have extended or lifetime warranty (Canadian truck) so I'll be paying the shot on this one. Just wondering what cost range is likely to be from anyone else who has had the same problem.

Second part of the question is how difficult is the repair? I know it will depend on where the bolt(s) have broken off. I'm guessing this is not a DIY project. Any thoughts on dealer vs independent shop for this repair? I'm thinking dealer because this is a common problem and they will have more experience with it and any TSBs on the issue.

Appreciate any comments!

No idea on the smell part, but the fact that the ticking is there when the engine is cold and disappears as it warms up is consistent. Rob

Due to low used RAM truck inventory in Canada which is due, in part, to the low valued Canadian dollar, I've decided to keep this truck another couple of years.
As such....it was time to take care of that manifold ticking.

2 broken bolts each side, 3 hours per side plus $250 in parts.
$1000 thank you very much.
You'd think that Chrysler would just bloody well fix this "known" issue.

$250 in parts? Pretty expensive bolts.
