Walmart has Mopar parts? In what part of the country? I have never seen Mopar stuff in MN Walmarts.

As for the smaller filter worries, who cares? The engineers spec'd the filter for the truck and they believe it will meet the engine's needs. Until some engines start getting destroyed from the smaller filters I'm going to assume they know what works. Yes, I know they are always looking to cut costs and corners, but for that same cost reason they aren't going to do something that increases warranty repairs or gets them a bad reputation.

As for the comments from old jeep, he can keep 'em to himself as I NEVER take a new truck to a dealer to have their 16 year old kids experiment with changing the oil on a $40,000+ truck. I've done them myself for over 40 years and don't plan on wasting money at the dealership or going there to simply buy a filter. O'Reilly or Autozone would be fine but they don't carry the genuine Mopar filter nor will I waste money on anything else they sell.

OK - so the dealer sucks, but you won't buy filters there even though they are the ones you want. Can't say as I've ever bought a filter at the dealer, but if you want Mopar and don't want to pay dealer price then buy them online in bulk. As for wally world - again, maybe a regional thing - but not somewhere that anyone would look for auto parts. (Do they really sell Mopar filters there? If so - why?)

Yup, walmart in my area all sell MOPAR oil filters, but thats the only MOPAR part i`ve ever seen in walmart.
It is also the only place i`ve ever seen with the cheapest price for good quality oil`s as well.
As for chrysler`s reputation... i`ve never known them to HAVE a GOOD reputation... lol

Most of my changes get done at the dealer as well ever since they opened up the oil change lane and I can get it done at 7AM without an appointment. Wish I was getting 4 for $52, usually around $25 for me - which is still cheaper than Instant Oil Change.

The guys at all 3 local dealers I've used are great, can't say that I've ever seen a 16 year old there - they all work at Instant Oil Change and Jiffy Lube

For you guys that insist on the Mopar filter, make sure you are also using the Mopar bulk oil

The Walmart stores here in Texas as well as the ones I frequent in Anchorage,Alaska (I travel between the two states) have filters from Fram, Mopar, AC Delco and Ford. I just assumed all Walmart stores sell the various brands of filters. They are genuine OEM and when I asked my local Dodge parts man about them a few years back he stated they are exactly the same...then winked and said "Probably less expensive too."

For those who've found good, honest, professional service departments - my hats off to you. I'm still looking in Houston as I haven't found one yet.

The 16 year old kids today look more like 25 year olds now. So you may want to start asking for their ID anymore. Ohhh forget that idea, those are likely fake as well.
Bulk oil = You`ll get what you pay for.
