Default Need some serious help.

Hello Ladies and gentlemen,

I am not new to the forums just been messing around on a new one! Excited to get to know you all again. Now let's get started!!!

I now have a 2010 dodge ram 1500 4.7l v8 4x4. Well ... recently one thing led to another and i got my truck partially submerged in water. It was there for nearly 20 minutes. None in the intake or anything, and when it was pulled out it ran fine, a little sputtering and white smoke. I left it primarily off the whole time after the water. Well I went ahead and changed the transmission fluid and the engine oil. Fired her up and she sounded good. I left it overnight, came back and the battery was dead. I later found out that the truck's dashboard randomly turns on... Well i disconnected the negative and pulled out the fuse box. let the wires dry in the sun and took a blow dryer to it, individually pulling all the fuses. Meanwhile I was charging the battery. Plugged the dry fuse box into dry wires and it cranked and cranked and wouldn't turn on. So then I went ahead and ordered two new relays for the starter solenoid and the automatic shut down 1,2,3 (ASD). Plugged em in and tried to start it. once again nothing. cranked and wont start. I am furious at this point, and not sure what to do. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Thomas

1) Report to insurance company
2) Let them total it

Nothing screws up the electronics in a car more than sitting in the water.

If you ever do get it back running again, make sure to change transfer case fluid, front & rear diff fluid, and grease every grease point on the truck.

If your fuses went under then so did the TIPM - which is one of your bigger problems at the moment.

Well, if it ran before you disconnected the fuse box and fuses, and now it doesn't, then it's probably something you caused. Go back and re-check everything you did.

If it cranked and did not start, you did not need a new the solenoid relay. Put both of the old ones back in. Too many changes at once.

It cranks and won't start. Check the fuel pressure at the rail and check for spark at the plugs, basic stuff.

Probably something simple as far as starting, the other stuff with the dead battery you may need to go to an expert to trace the current drain.

Not necessarily - could just be that as the TIPM sat (which is really what he disconnected) that the water and crud in the water finished off the unit - or when he reapplied power to it, it shorted out. That "fuse panel" is really a $400 or so computer.

I will say I believe there was water inside the "TIPM" or "Fuse box" in my words... the whole time i was changing the fluids there was water inside of it, and i didnt think to check. Then when i let it sit overnight i believe something happened... I dont think i did anything wrong.

One of the rules I always followed when I troubleshot complex electronic circuits before I retired, was to go back and check anything that was touched last. You'd be surprised how many times "fat fingers" screwed something up. Could be a connector not seated, a pushed or bent pin, a loose relay, a fuse in the wrong spot, or .....

The OP said he disconnected the Fuse Box, so I took him at his word.

I know that the TIPM has the circuitry that controls the fuel pump that is why I suggested he look at fuel pressure.

I agree that it could be the TIPM but with these kind of things, you need to take one step at a time.
