Default question on R/T mods for my express

was reading an article about the R/T 1500, and from what I gathered from performance perspective, the R/T nets you a high stall torque converter and 4.10 gear.....I found a site that sells 4.10 gears, and since I work for a dealership, can probably get much cheaper through our parts dept....but does the TC make much difference? pricey? worth the $$ to get? all opinions/info are appreciated, thanks!

The 4.10s are a doable mod. If you're coming from the 3.55s or 3.21s you'll also need the LSD unit, which the 3.92s and 4.10s come with. As for the TC, I have no idea, I've never rode in an R/T to really know. Don't forget about the R/T weight advantage as well. It being a single cab short bed reduces the weight some to help give a little extra oomph.

The TC isnt worth doing in my opinion... not enough of a gain vs dollars spent to do it... also a higher stall converter meens more trans slippage.

Agreed with Lu, you're going to need more aggresive support mods before a torque convertor will be a beneficial investment.

I had a 2,800 TC on my Charger, but that was after building the 345 with stage II mods. My Charger was non-aspirated, so a TC was more beneficial at the track with launching near my "productive" power RPM range.
