Anti spin rearend 2013 Ram 1500?
I just bought a 2013 Ram 8sd,3:21,5.7hemi and after i got home 200 mile round trip. I look at the build sheet and cannot find the anti spin rear on it. I also got the Bighorn pkg. May be i thought it was in there ,but i doubt it. The dealer has it until monday sprayed in bed liner and undercoat. Now i'm wondering what do ,can this be added in by the dealer? I feel i'm not getting what i thought i paid for. I took notes when dealer called me a couple days back and he told me over the phone what it had on it .Antispin was on the list he gave me. What to do? Thanks for input in advance. Don
The 3.21s rear end doesn't come with the Limited Slip Differential. Neither does the 3.55s gears. The only rear ends with the LSD from the factory are the 3.92s and 4.10s.
An LSD unit is different from Electronic Slip Protection, both are "anti spin," but the LSD is mechanical whereas ESP is electronic and computer controlled. All 4th Gen RAMs come with ESP standard, so no doubt you do have that. As long as the dealer said you have "anti spin" and never said the truck came with limited slip, he/she wasn't lying.
You can add an LSD to the rear end fairly easy. It's beyond something I'd tackle personally, but the dealer or any good drivetrain shop should be able to almost do it with their eyes closed.
The big question is, is it something you want to get bent out of shape over? I have both ESP and the LSD, and after 4 years of owning my truck, I've never been in a situation where the ESP couldn't handle the job. RAM's ESP is fairly aggressive, but not too much so that it won't let you push the truck a little hard. ESP will easily get the truck back manageable when it's a little slippery out. I guess it depends a lot on what you plan on doing with the truck. If it's going to be on road as a daily driver or used to haul stuff on road, I'd say ESP will handle the job no problem. However, if you're going to be off road in the grass driving or towing a lot, then yes, the LSD really will be a benefit.
Just my two cents, but hope this helps.

I would recommend speaking with your sales rep, regarding what you were seeking to be included in the vehicle and what the build sheet states. They will be able to assist in describing the break down. If you would you do have any additional questions please PM me your VIN# and the name of your selling dealer and I'd be happy to help review any concerns.
Congratulations on your new Ram!!
I just bought a 2013 1500. It has 3.55 gears, and a anti-spin rear. My option is listed on the right side of the options page. I had to pay extra for the anti-spin. I sure hope all 3.55 trucks came with anti-spin stock, or I've been had!!

Not to thread jack or anything, but you guys see the new car and driver for september. they put our truck that was loaded to the gills with a 3.21 rear against the new chevy and ford. It got ripped apart. I was so mad. How could Ram release something like that to a car magazine knowing it was going to do really awful in the hauling/towing section and performance section. I have a 3.92 rear and would never get anything less. I really dont give a flying F@@K about MPG. People need to understand that these are trucks. I average 19.7mpg on the highway @ 72mph. I own a 2013 Sport Crewcab fully loaded. sorry for the rant.
