To bad you didn't see this sooner, I could of saved you $55 on the hooks, I'm selling mine for $75, look brand new. I know whay you mean with clearance, that's why I chose not to install them, my '09 Sport had the larger bumper insert with ea sy clearance.
That is a bummer! I didn't even bother looking for used sets because they are pretty hard to find. With the Dakota, any used set was always within $25 or so of brand new because they were always a item in demand, so I just decided to go the dealer route.

Power Sedan, if the op posts some pics of his I'll buy yours! (assuming they're usable given the clearance concerns)

The 7,500 lb tow strap (22,500 breaking strength) from Northern Tool fits by the bumper. I definitely wouldn't recommend using any kind of hook/chain on the tow hooks unless you don't care about the paint.

Very good, thank you. That is close. From what I read, they are held by a body mount bolt?

Don't have any close ups of my former '09, but I'm pretty sure if you switch them around, you'll achieve much more clearance. Refer to pic in link below.

I didn't see any way of mounting them the other way, but maybe I was looking at it wrong. The way they connect to the frame, there's only one way to install them.

2 existing bolts on the front of the frame, and an additional bolt that goes in to the bottom of the frame. Install is right, but I was able to fit a ratchet and torque wrench in there without removing anything but the bezel that needed to be cut.

Just for kicks I aligned mine up on my '13, and they work the other way. The center bolt is concentric, so it maybe possible to mount the opposite way.

My brother-in-law has a '13, and his are mounted the same direction as the link, however the insert is two separate pieces. Try switching them around, I'm sure it will work.

For the record, I did this over the weekend with the tow hooks from Power Sedan (thanks!) and tried the other way first. They wouldn't fit due to the plastic insert getting in the way and the hooks going too far in the center. It no longer fit on the "flat" plastic and started going into the extra bump/pop out toward the center of the plastic which would be much more difficult to cut. Hence, I went for the way the TS went and thought I'd just deal. They look great still and are functional (albeit hard to fit a strap around it)
