Glad I found this thread. Bought a new 2012 Longhorn for 2 years ago. Never used remote start, however, it has been accidently activated 6 times in 2 years. No longer carry key fob in my pockets because of this. Have been very concerned about this since my garage is under my master bedroom. Will try to disable with hood switch outlined above. Thanks.

 

Does this mean that if you're getting the alert, "Remote start cancelled, hood open", that the connection may be unplugged or loose? I just bought a brand new 2016 Ram and I can't get the remote starter working. The hood is closed and I still get that alert.

As a new member to the Forum I was just reading the responses to turning off the remote start feature in my 2017 Ram 1500. Its a nice feature however I constantly keep hitting the button while the key is in my pocket and the truck starts. Now that the cold weather is here and I put the truck in my garage which is under the bedroom in my house I don't want the thing starting. I will look into the hood latch switch and disconnect it so it wont start. Thanks so much for the information here.
